One of the reasons I gave it up was because I was sick of not having the same time off as my husband did. It was nearly impossible to get ANY time off, I ended up quitting my last job because they didn't want to give me time off to get married.

I feel your pain!

Re: A Christmas meme

I played!

http://www.christinecurmudgeon.com/?p=116

Re: There is a name for these women

This happens a lot. A woman engages in slutty behavior, feels guilty afterwards, and cries rape. I despise this sort of thing, as it makes it harder for women who really have been sexually assaulted to be taken seriously. As it is now, there are still police who think that women are raped because they *asked for it*. As in, they were wearing shorts or a mini-skirt or a low-cut top.

We've had plenty of cases like this here in the States, too. It makes me sick to see women do this.

Re: A Night Out

I dunno...I'm 48 and once in a great, GREAT while, I can still do a late night out. I can do the Maine Brewers Festival once a year until the evening session closes at midnight. Even so, this year, we bought tickets for the afternoon session. Geezer-itis has attacked!

Oh, and in case you haven't noticed, someone wants to play FOOSBALL for you. Check the PU2B blog and contact Tony with your choice ASAP. Congrats!

Re: Scott Baio is 46 and a clueless dolt…

I had never heard of this show until now. But I have to comment because something here really hits home for me.

I was my parents' first born. My father wanted a boy very badly, and never let me forget it. As if I had any control over this!

My brother was born three years later...my father was happy to have his Almighty Boy. My brother could do no wrong in my father's eyes...he'd come home drunk as young as 15 and got away with it. Meanwhile, I was always severely punished for very minor infractions, such as coming home five minutes past curfew, or getting a B instead of an A on my report card. My brother could get straight F's (often did), but was never punished for it, never encouraged to try to do better.

My brother dropped out of school at age 16 and became a junkie. Tired of the abuse, I moved out at age 18 and haven't looked back.

I just hope that Scott Baio's little girl never has to suffer such abuse at his hands, simply for being born female. I hope he doesn't ignore her, either. He needs to wake up and realize that this is HIS child, too, and he needs to be a real man and take an equal part in parenting.

He's nothing but a has-been loser.

Re: The Baby Borrowers: Ep 1

I'm not sure what to make of this show. On the one hand, if it teaches these kids about how much work it is to take care of a baby, and it discourages them from having one until they are more mature and prepared for it, that's good.

But, as you point out, they are living in homes and driving cars that they wouldn't be able to afford IRL. And what about all of the baby stuff they were just "given"? These kids are not being taught about the financial responsibility that having a child involves. And that kind of worries me.

Christine's last blog post..Wednesday Wstuph?

Re: Halloween was Wicked Fun

That's a cute Pooh costume. And it's nice that it can be recycled for either a boy or a girl.

The bargain costume thing can sometimes work for older kids, too. I was in Target the other night, and I saw this woman getting all excited over a Dorothy (Wizard of Oz) costume for only four bucks. It was a very nice one, too. It looked like it would fit a girl of maybe 7-8 years old. Perhaps it would fit this lady's daughter next year, who knows?

Whether or not the girl wants to be Dorothy for Halloween next year, who knows? LOL!

Christines last blog post..Weekend wrap-up

Re: this one’s for the fat girls

Great post, KD!
