"THE PILL" a book that documents the history of WOMEN Struggling for birth control features the work of pioneer in that movement Margaret Sanger. Right off the bat we hear her account of her mother giving birth to yet another unwanted child.Born as a result of a drunken husband coming home after cashing in his paycheck and having his way with his wife.
Sanger has umpteen stories of the sufferings and of women from botched backroom abortions.
Here in Canada,which some of you Americans may see from your yard,we have honoured Dr. Henry Morgentaler with the Order of Canada award. He went to jail for us. He had compassion for us and he performed safe abortions for us.
Did the Right to Lifers protest about such a prestigious award going to him? You betcha'!
One Catholic priest even handed back his own award as a protest even tho" his church recently had to apologize for the treatment of First Nations children at the Residential schools,rapes included.
Has Ms Palin never read this book or know of the history of womens' struggles with undesirable pregnancies?
What is so very disturbing to me is their belief that the state will somehow care for all these unwanted babies when America has so many children living in poverty. The world has a huge log of babies and children not being cared for, be it from war,AIDS, diseases,abandonment,family crises.
ProLIFERS should and could be putting their energies there.

I think that a female "Maverick" would be up their screaming about the poverty that exists in America. The number of children living in poverty
the need for medicare for everyone
affordable housing
unnecessary military expenditures
the no. of civilian deaths that her country is responsible for in other countries
the growing gap between rich and poor with wealth getting more and more concentrated in the top 3% of the nation's well to do.
She would question the number of houses anyone person can own and she would suggest that since they are so affluent perhaps they could give up one of those for a social housing project.
She would talk about the long history of women in patriarchy How they became property.
How women died from backroom abortions before some qualified doctors stepped in to help because as medical professionals they could no longer just witness the suffering.
She would insist that energy be focused on ProLife ,meaning : support the lives of all babies and children already born who need help and nurturing to survive.
She might even mention the rapes of women all over this nation,and even in the military.

This has been a whole lot of effort, loss of lives and devastation just to catch one man.

The average price to build a mile of road is one million dollars. This does not include maintenance.

We have done all of this to assist GM et al to keep producing and making profits.

Suburbs were developed with the train as a way for people to commute. GM lobbied against trains. Encouraged the 2 car family.

Our society has been designed for the automobile. The average American spends over $8500 just on maintenance.

With the take over of the auto as a form of transportation, we changed our lifestyle: drive in this and drive in that;

fast food, junk food, malls, big box stores, wider streets, and more parking spaces.

Enough. I'm exhausted from this over use, the noise,the lousy attitudes and discourtesy.

Its worth trying. North Americans spend on the average $8000 a year maintaining their automobile. Make cities carfree at the sametime and we will have a better world. Having attended recently the World ECOCITY Summit, I am forever grateful and hopeful . People have envisioned and are enacting extraordinary project. Thank you.Growing more food and having a surplus should never be a problem.

Industrial agriculture has already depleted our soils As a one time certified organic grower I welcome more and more GREEN projects.

We spend billions, even trillions in infrastructure costs supporting the automobile. These companies should have been sued a long time ago for producing a product hazardous to health and the environment.

GM et al brainwashed the world into believing they needed one, two or more of their products. Our world had to accomodate to the automobile and every aspect of our socity was designed around it.

I am exhausted from the NOISE, the pollution, the stress, the expense and the loss of virtue that comes from the use of this product.

Just how many more automobiles will we allow on this planet.

No Bail out. Put that money into light rail.

When smaller enterprises fail, we say tough luck. We don"t bail them out.

GM et al also kept us out of the European modes of public transit.How much do their daily, ubiquitous ads cost.

How to put a price on the loss of friends,relatives and severely injured from accidents ????

Any other product would be recalled and not allowed to market such a health hazard.

These are weapons of mass destruction.
