Nice post. Exactly what I think. I love using Visual Studio. Notepad is ok to begin with, but when your programs become complex, the code completion and the color syntax highlighting make it less of a disaster waiting to happen.

Thanks for posting that, Zef. I agree with you 100%. I literally can't stand the open-source zealots in the world.

I'm currently running Windows Server 2003 and it is rock solid. It's locked down pretty tight. IIS lockdown tool is already installed on it, along with URLScan. Also, in order for you to propertly install an extension (i.e .php, .asp, .aspx, .pl..etc), you have to "Allow" it via a panel. It's great.

I signed up yesterday and downloaded the SDK and the help inclusion utility. I think I'm going to give it a shot. Hopefully this move will bring new VS.NET plugins.

The MacMini is a very good idea. I don't really care about the lack of a keyboard or mouse because I already have a KVM switch and I would hook it up to that. For people who are like me and have an extremely limited amount of deskspace or still want to use a Windows computer, it's a great idea.

Do you just have one stick or multiple sticks that equal 1gb? If you have more than one stick, just take one out and test to see if it was just the one stick.

Not a bad idea, I don't think this would ever work, especially with the password problem.

The only way I could imagine this would work is that each "login" site only asked for a username (i.e shane@zefhemel.com). That single site could then parse out the server and redirect them to the profile host where the user then types in the password. If successful, the profile host sends a response back to the original site containing a confirmation ID and username. Then some sort of verification code would need to be executed to ensure the confirmation ID was legit.

Basically, it would work almost exactly like Passport, as login sites don't actually work with the username/password, but without a centralized server.

Then you have to worry about login box cloaking and all sorts of other fraud activities.

haha. I load up my RSS reader and quickly look at the middle of this article and I see "That's phat". After seeing that, I just have to read the entire thing and leave a comment. So... are you feeling alright?

17k later, you should be able to monitor quite a few inboxes and keep every message up on the screen. You have to use that 16gb of RAM somehow.
