in Towing Scam. The Day After on The Phoenix Real Estate Guy
They got me there about two years ago... I left my car for 20 mins tops, and sure enough that was enough time for them to haul my car off.
It is a scam... But what pissed me off the most was their guy who drives around the lot in a pick-up offering to take you to the impound lot. I told him to go F himself! (I was rather pissed-off at the time)
Good luck exposing these thieves.. it's the biggest con in town.

I really like this software.. the video you posted looks professionally created. I may have to look a little bit further into Animoto, and see if perhaps it is something that we can utilize over here!

in LinkedIn Traffic Continues to Grow on Marketing Pilgrim
Interesting... perhaps not too surprising either, considering our economic situation. That's a decent traffic count though! I certainly wouldn't mind showing our advertisers that we received 7.7 million visitors in January.. hell, I'd settle for just the 700k (over the 7 mil)!!

in Why Paid Blog Comments are a Waste of Your Money (and my time) on The Phoenix Real Estate Guy
Good story Jay... I remember reading another post from you, a while back, about how you receive too many spam comments and that you were apologetic if real comments got deleted in the process...
Well I feel the same way... there are just too many spam comments, on a daily basis, to sift through them for legitimate comments that got miscategorized into the spam folder.
So if any developers / widget makers stumble upon this post (and this comment)... Could you please develop a widget so that I can ban the IPs and domains of the porn and Viagra guys that fill up our spam folders each and every day..?

in You Can’t Handle the Truth! on The Phoenix Real Estate Guy
Someone's been listening to the NAR too much! While I don't mean to insult the NAR (or Mr. Yun for that matter)... they've been doing a little bit of smoke blowing of their own as of late. Maybe "Agent's" market is ideal for selling right now.. I don't know, but I doubt it...
By telling your readers the facts, you're simply being a trust-worthy agent. If you were to tell your readers (or potential clients) that "now is the time to sell", in an effort to gain business... we would see right through you!
It's no mistake that you are one of (if not thee) most well-respected real estate agents in cyber-world... you "keep it real". Thanks for that!

in How Will Advertising Influence Mobile Web Growth? on StayGoLinks
You know I've thought about how the world of mobile advertising would evolve, and even if I would like to receive ads to my mobile devices (I don't think I would)... I have to disagree. I can't imagine mobile advertising being bigger than Internet advertising. In fact, I believe Internet advertising will be the largest medium in the not too distant future.

I'm getting to like the CommentLuv plugin, in fact I'll be adding it to most of my blogs too... I was wondering why you have added the nofollow to your CommentLuv.. have people been abusing it??

in Tricky But White Hat Link Building Technique on The Friday Traffic Report
CommentLuv is a fairly new concept for me, I'm seriously considering adding it my company blog... I have no problem sharing link love, but I agree with some of the concerns regarding spamming. I'm just going to have to weed them out as normal I guess, I just hope it won't attract more spammers than normal..

I guess if I could afford it.. I'd pay $200k to orbit the moon. Do you know if Virgin has already sent average Joes into space yet? Or are they still trying to fill up the shuttle??

in Personal Branding and the Job Market on Instigator Blog
I agree with much of what you've stated, especially when applying it towards job candidates. However, I'm not so big on personal branding... company branding yes... but personal branding doesn't necessarily benefit me and my daily activities. On that note, there are many professionals in job positions that do require personal branding (and a lot of it) - for example: real estate agents, miscellaneous salespeople, politicians, Donald Trump, etc.

in The Birth of Unzillowable on Sellsius
Nice post! Doesn't surprise me that Jay coined the term "Unzillowable", he's pretty witty!
I think that many readers (especially homebuyers) can learn a great deal about certain aspects of a home that you may not discover until after you've already moved in (perhaps even months after moving in).. such as noise, neighbors, smells, etc.

in How to Market Your Blog Offline: Follow the Spider on Sellsius
Great advice, I agree 100% that offline promotion of your blog is a great marketing approach. I think that real estate agents and Realtors alike can benefit greatly by following your suggestions. One note I would like to add, is that if agents can promote their blog as an online resource of information regarding local real estate... their potential clients may be more inclined to go there for advice, where then the chances of converting them into a client will be much higher.

in 5 Marketing Tools Every Startup Should Use on Instigator Blog
Great advice, I like your suggestions a lot; as they are 'off the wall' slightly... in comparison with most start-up advice.
I definitely think that being active within your community is extremely important. I also think your comments on creating a buzz are very true, I'm glad you noted on that... as I would like for our start-up to focus more on sustaining a long-term buzz.

Ben,
Do you have any insights on why using Facebook to promote such an event is useful or beneficial?
Is there more to Facebook, that business people can take advantage of?
