Hey Urthboy and Mark,

This is a great story, I recently went on a 3 week road trip with my father and one of the really valuable things about the trip was hearing Dads stories of when he was young. I guess I had never showed an interest in what happened before I was born, it was great to hear his stories and put together his life.

I think it is safe to say that you just got taken back to school by the man Erik Ingvoldstad.

1. Not all activity that happens via social technology is social BONDING

Because the definition of social is an interaction of organisms. And walking down the street shouting is still social.

I agreed with your point about community up until the last couple of weeks. When everything I thought I knew about online communities was thrown on its head with the 4chan /b/ community. And the Anonymous Group http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymous_(group)

I guess it would be time for a definition of Community as well, thanks Wikipedia 'community is a group of interacting organisms sharing an environment.'

4chan /b/ would classify as a community because it has individuals posting in an environment which is the 4chan website.

Anomaly? Maybe.

But that doesn't matter because it is an example of a thriving community that suggest that anonymity is NOT the antithesis to community.

Anonymity is antithesis to community.

I also thought this up to awhile ago, however I had a moment of realisation when I came across 4chan /b/, where a community exsists anonymously. I did a post on it awhile back.

What about the community that exsists around Campaign Brief as well? There is a collection of people who consistently visit this site and comment anonymously.

Mine is definitely, Imnotantisocial (http://imnotantisocial.blogspot.com). I don't even like female fashion but somehow I just keep going back and reading her stuff. She updates everyday with some interesting story about her life.

Having been following you around for the past week, I have to say that it is also a talent unlocking what people are passionate about. And you definitely have that talent. You are like an Andrew Denton with a Fro.
