Glad you like the pics, guys :) Nathan, they were taken with a Canon A620 (a compact digicam) in one of Canon's excellent custom designed underwater (40m) cases. It's a great combination, and about as cheap as it gets for quality underwater pictures.

I was being a little bit sarcastic... At the same time, though, you have to admit that having proprietary chargers for virtually every different kind of cell phone is a pretty major inconvenience for most people, as well as being bad for the environment. But if companies can continue to produce them for a nickel and sell them for $15 and we don't have a choice, the only thing that's going to stop them is some government intervention.

I just meant that the Netflix streaming web interface (on your computer) is IE only... No Firefox. The interface on the box is probably an IE derivative, but it's all internal, so you couldn't use Firefox in the box even if you wanted to (which I would).

SSDs have no moving parts, so they use less juice. Keeping magnetic platters spinning at several thousand RPM takes work.

That's an incredibly good idea. I wonder what kind of torque your average cassette deck puts out...

It's actually a giraffe. His name is Russell, and if you pet his nose, he says "heehee that tickles" or "that feels niiiice" in a robotic monotone.

I don’t mind that you guys are entertaining yourselves (or whatever), but no more posting the long crap, m’kay? I'm just gonna delete it and start unapproving people, 'cause it's really annoying.

We use the 496 in our Cessna, and it's awesome, very easy to use. The price is prohibitive, though, and if the 495 was available a few years ago, I bet we'd have probably gone with it. The XM weather is cool, but it costs extra. The Smart Airspace feature alone probably justifies the price unless you're flying out in the boonies.

Mike: You're right, of course... If I recall correctly, Dell thinks it drops the cost of each computer by $60 or less. But I just find it amazing that Sony has completely dropped the pretense that this stuff is at all beneficial, and is admitting that they're deliberately crippling your computer in order to make money.
