in Flickr & Locations on What I Learned Today...
I have geotag'd a few photos, but find it too time-consuming to do every photos. And there are a few that I'll never geotag (like of my house). I find the word tags more useful and easier to do.

in Something you don’t learn in library school on What I Learned Today...
You'll be pleased to know that in my digitization class at SU, we do talk about how to keep up, people to keep an eye on, etc. Like Bo's faculty members, I'm a practicing librarian/instructor (not a professor). I would hope, though, that it's not just the instructors who think of this.

Nicole, thanks. I had seen the article, but not read it. I think that there is something in it for everyone to pay attention to.

Nicole,
Yes, I'll be there.
Yes, I did a speaker's page.
Maybe we can at least do coffee?
BTW if you're a SL librarian, there is a dine around Tuesday night. I haven't picked a location yet (will do next week).

in The Smallest Airport on What I Learned Today...
I am bound and determined to cut back on the number of bags I carry when I fly due to the changes in what one can carry on and the realization that I cannot continue to carry (lug/roll) a laptop. I'm in the market for something smaller...!
Perhaps we should start a conversation somewhere about what electronics, etc., people are carrying in order to carry less (rather than the more, more, more that seems to be happening).
BTW I "love" that commercial where the businessperson gets on the plan with only a PDA and then uses it in a meeting to run his presentation. Now if only it could do Word, etc...

in Internet Librarian OPML on What I Learned Today...
Okay...not only is under Edit, but it is at the bottom of the sidebar on the left (which made it a bit hidden). Nicole, thanks for the help! It seems to have worked.

I'm used an OMPL file once before, but don't remember how I got Bloglines to recognize it. At any rate, you use the word "import" and I can't find in Bloglines what you means. What command is "Import"?

in MySpace in Public Libraries on What I Learned Today...
There are good and bad aspects to all technologies. The key is to learn how to use the technology safely.
According to an article in Fortune, more than 50% of MySpace users are over the age of 35. We would have to assume that most of these people (like me) are legitimate users -- people connecting with their market (e.g., musicians) as well as people connecting with family and friends. This is a site where teens will be interacting with a broad range of people -- just as they do in real life -- so they need to apply the same rules here as they would if they were riding a NYC subway.
It should also be noted that young people are engaging in polychronic learning when they use these tools. They have adapted to this learning style, which is something we'll need to keep in mind.

This battery recall actually started months ago and was a big deal in the spring (I think). Now it has resurfaced.

I, too, am lugging to CIL -- plane then to DC subway, then walking to the hotel. Hopefully this won't tire us all out! I hope our paths do cross.
