in S.S. CEO sails against national labor act, union backers say on The Colorado Independent
The law would not eliminate the option of a ballot election. It would make it voluntary for the employees to decide as opposed to the current situation which allow the employer to use the requirement as a way to buy time and bring in union busting cartels (anti-union law firms) to move the election. The law that gives employees the right to form and join unions would actually have a chance of working once the EFCA becomes law. The ballot is really not the issue. The issue is allowing the intent of the ballot election to be upheld in a neutral manner.

in Union members are the new terrorists? on The Colorado Independent
Unions represent free choice by giving employees a legal voice as opposed to no voice at all grunt. 47 weakens the voice of firefighters, law enforcement officers and other employees all over the State. Your comment about WINS is ignorant. Private sector laws are often different that the public sector.

in Union members are the new terrorists? on The Colorado Independent
When duly elected union officials leave office, they do not take golden parachutes with them. Your bitter attacks on labor epitomize why labor management relations is strained in this State. Your contempt for democracy in the workplace is obvious, but organized labor will continue to fight for their right to expand. No on 47, 49 and 54.

thegrunt Try real employee free choice in the workplace, that is Amendment 47.

Tim Allport represents the private sector Union Bosses, too lazy to work hard for their members.

Tim look at ColoradoWINS. State workers have the Right to Work and ColoradoWINS has been very successful.

in Meet Colorado’s anti-union ‘clean team’ on The Colorado Independent
Why shouldn't state employees have the same rights and federal employees? Why shouldn't all employees have the right to form and join unions and other basic job protections? 54 interferes with legitimate agreements in the workplace, does nothing to help taxpayers and threatens the safety and morale of first responders, ie, Fire Fighters, Police, and Public safety officials. It is a perfect example of government interference to appease extreme elements of the right wing. Vote No 47, 49, and 54 and yes 53 and 55.

in Labor to blast mailers aimed at Reagan Democrats on The Colorado Independent
The Employee Free Choice Act makes the ballot an option IF the members call for a ballot. Although most democratic votes are in the open, ie, voice votes or show of hands. Joining a union or another organization should be based on the clear intention of the member, e.g., signing a form to enroll, so spare us the talking point and tell the truth. You want the current system so the ballot vote can be used by management as a way to delay the process and break the union. That is not the intent of a ballot vote it is? But that is the reason to are opposed to the Employee Free Choice Act, because you want unions kept in check. Why not just say that?

in Former Gov. Bill Owens chimes in on Amendment 47 on The Colorado Independent
What a joke for a Republican like Gov. Owens to pretend that he actually cares about employee rights. He cares about his Republican party and he is tapping uninformed electorate with this nonsense about "choice". His party is bought and sold by powerful corporate interests who do not want to see employees empowered at the grassroots level. He knows it and we know it. I realize there are a lot of 30 second ad voters out there, but many voters will still weigh the facts. Amendment 47 is a free loader bill. Think about it. If I did not vote for my representative, I still have to pay taxes. I do not have the right to free-load with the democratic process. Unions bring democracy to the workplace. Nothing more and nothing less. If the majority of employees vote in a union, the non-members have top pay a fair share free, but CAN remain non-members. That is based on majority rule like any other democratic election. Collective bargaining is what checks and balances and due process of law translate too. Bill Owens and John Andrews and their cronies prefer workplaces to be run more like China. It is cheaper that way and their friends get bigger bonuses and if they want to fire somebody for no reason, so be it.
