in Mac Pro vs Dell Precision on SoapBoxRants
@Mark:
Thanks for pointing out the FSB difference. I missed that somehow. I tried to make sure to qualify the comparison as being close but not exact because I was unable to find an exact hardware match. I am glad to see that people are starting to look at the different systems more closely to make decisions.
By the way, be careful. The Apple path is a slippery slope. I bought my iMac out of a desire to have a fast system with a tiny footprint. I now have an iPhone and will soon be purchasing a MacBook Pro to replace my Dell Inspiron. I've just found that the systems are super fast and really reliable for the things that I want to do on a computer. If your purchase meets your needs like that, you may find yourself buying more and more from Apple.
But I am still not a fanboy. I like my MS stuff just fine, thank you.

What, no apps like Dropbox ( http://getdropbox.com ) to keep working data synced seamlessly between a couple of computers?

T-Mobile uses the same GSM technology. I would start by calling AT&T; and telling them you need to SIM unlock the phone for travel purposes and they should give you a code to put in the device to take care of that. Afterwards...just pop in a T-Mobile SIM and you should be off. If you do have problems, though, there are several threads at XDA that talk about SIM unlocking and there are utilities available there to do so. Most people, though, just get the code from AT&T; because they really don't give you a hard time about it as long as you say you'll be traveling overseas.

in AT&T Tilt Software - Revisited on SoapBoxRants
@dMOTUc - By speed I mean how responsive the phone is. You wouldn't believe the difference between the AT&T; stock ROM and Dutty's latest ROM. It's like moving from a 286 to a Core2Duo. The screen redraws so much faster and apps open and close so quickly that'd you'll feel the phone is more like a laptop than a calculator. By the way, if you are having dropped call problems, I would try a different Radio ROM. The good news is you can flash new radios all day without losing any settings on the phone. Just avoid that one evil radio that locks you down and you should be fine. Besides, different radios not only affect call quality but battery life. Most of us run through every radio for the WM version we're on just to see which works best for our area.

@dMOTUc - Are you talking about WM6.1 ROMs? If that's what you mean, then there's no need to wait. Most of the ROMs being cooked (like dutty's) are WM6.1. They've got their hands on the new AT&T; version as well. From what I've read, it's still better to grab a cooked ROM that has been toyed with for speed. Just avoid the one radio ROM that locks the device. I believe it's the 17.10 but you can check the XDA forums to confirm that.

I don't think it was but I could be wrong. About the only thing I remember about its looks was the eleventy-hundred hot pink shocks it had. Yay 80's?

@Miyaka - Thanks for the heads up on that. I haven't had a chance to hit Dell's blogs up yet. It's good to know they aren't completely abandoning the XPS line. I rather like some of them.

@Melissa M.
Email sent. I look forward to your response. (By the way...should I be worried at how quick you found and responded to my post? I mean, are there going to be large guys in Italian suits knocking on my door?)

We're around...just not in large enough numbers to make me really happy. That's part of the point of SBR, to put a voice on those of us that don't drink the Kool-Aid.
And to give me a place to ramble and gripe about anything and everything. ^_^

@Bill - My best suggestion is to hit up the Kaiser forum over at xda-developers. The guys there are far more intimate with the finer nuances of the device than I am and they're always up for a challenge and glad to help out.
