in The things I’m learning from having an ugly design on Scobleizer
my only real suggestion is to change the font to something more readable like a tahoma, verdana, etc or even arial.
otherwise it's all good.

the problem is that twitter is a media darling right now - it's like the superman cape - nothing from poor support, crappy processes, etc can pierce the cape

in Big shifts in microblog/social networking world on Scobleizer
Robert - don't forget that twitter has no user support - even their lead investor Fred Wilson basically said so when he told me to try to get the "community" to help with my issue. Twitter has realized that all they need to do is keep the bloggers who fluff them happy and pimp the crap out of their celebs - this is why I wrote the other day about early adopters - etc.

in Why Rob Diana is right: Twitter gets the hype while Facebook will get the gold on Scobleizer
"It was amazing to me that he had only gotten 24 followers in that time, which demonstrates the lack of engagement of a talk radio audience, but I’m getting off track."
To make this point, you will need way more analysis and research. Remember, most people aren't using (or even will use) Twitter today or in the future.
Just because a small group of people are running around talking about how we all MUST be on twitter, it doesn't mean it's true.
Also, I believe the real reason people (not companies) are using twitter is because all of a sudden they think they have "fans" - I am working on a post about this.
Also 2 - tv/radio reporters are using twitter because it makes them seem relevant. 10 yrs ago they were all behind by a year on every new trend. today they need (must) try to look like they are hip and trendy with whatever the few are running around with. combine that with #1 also above and you see why they are pushing it. more on this as well later this week.
As for Rob's point, this happens all the time - small company innovates and creates something new, big company does it and wipes them away. (or they acquire them)....

in Just Ask for It on Chris Brogan
it's things like that card that should remind everyone that social media just rolls up into the bigger program of marketing and not everything needs to be twitter, digg, or facebook to be effective. traditional marketing works just fine, even today, even to people like you and me.

Thanks for commenting over on CN Pete. I agree with you about the mainstream piece. There's no doubt that more of this will come over time. The issue here is that people use the same password all over the net and that these phishers could try the same credentials on other services.
(btw, in IE 7, this text box for comments is super wide - might want to check it)

in Happy with My Mosso Hosting on Chris Brogan
hmm - well then things must have changed - i still see plenty of 172.xxx ip addresses so that tells me that it does require magic! And I am not talking about mass-mailing, I am talking about say Drupal's normal contact form or Wordpress' normal contact form.

in Happy with My Mosso Hosting on Chris Brogan
Can you talk about the edits to the core WP files you had to make to correct transfer the IP addresses since Mosso can't properly handle IP address passthru on their servers? What about email changes due to the way they handle mail processing - that either you have to use smtp or force parameters that sometime require core changes as well?
I've been with Mosso since March and the service has improved dramatically since then. But it's still not perfect and can be very frustrating when trying to keep an installation of drupal, wp, etc. current as the core has to be edited every single time. I do like Rob and the support is U.S. based which is great.

in Guest Post - What Bloggers Can Learn From Journalists on Chris Brogan
this weekend i noted on twitter that it seems a lot of writers want to be called bloggers when they want to do whatever they want and journalists when they want a press badge, to be taken seriously or some sort of credit.
Anita's point about the styleguide is interesting - I gave a copy of it to all of my staff and they had to follow the rules before any content went live on the corporate site. Yet I find that many bloggers just don't care about spelling and the like. And sadly as much as I want to agree with Anita, readers just don't seem to care about that point.

in Why I love the US auto industry on Scobleizer
Robert - how'd you get a test vehicle? Also, good to see you pushing valley companies to fix the auto industry. God knows there isn't anyone outside the valley that could help!
Putting tesla into ford dealerships would be a horrible idea - get people who already overextend themselves to overextend even further! Why don't we give them a 2-3 year adjustable rate car loan.... you know what comes next.
My belief is that for today's consumer, the US companies lack the style and the profile. No one wants to ride around in a taurus anymore. US car companies missed the fact that people bought the ipod because its sexy.
BTW - I would disagree with you on the taxi situation - the reliability of the taxis (say in NYC) is a testament to the reliability of the cars. When I heard Consumer Reports talk about cars today on CNN - they pushed reliability for the US auto manufacturers. The problem is that if you ask 100 people where reliability ranks, it's not first. People want to feel good in their cars, and frankly as you suggest, it's just not there.
Before i moved to nyc, I owned a jetta for 7 yrs and absolutely loved it - it made me feel good when i drove it and gave me relatively few problems (except for the recalls). We spend a lot of time in our cars and detroit needs to realize that. Sticking a fancy dvd player into the car isn't enough.

in Thank You Sheraton Four Points on Chris Brogan
Interesting to note that I find in the low-to-mid chain hotels (including four points) they take care of you better with things like the water while if you head up the chain ladder (say to a spg luxury collection) that water won't be there.
I love getting into a room and there's a fresh bottle of water - you're right, it's a small thing but it's those small things that make you return next time you are in that city.

To clarify i didn't unsubscribe from you on twitter :) and you know I like you Robert.
It's ok to be emotional, we all are in one way or another. It's ok to be scared. But what I am struggling with from you Robert is what seems like panic to the level of needing a pill of some sort. I don't get it. Is sh** bad? Yes. Everyone knows it's bad. It's like if you and me were standing outside in the rain and you say "it's raining" - duh.
This might be crazy but I am going to try it...think of your readers as your kids.. do you try to scare the crap out of your kids about what's going on now? Of course not, you may share some details and explanation of why we can't go to x or buy y, but scaring them into thinking the end is near is crazy (i think). but yet here, you are doing it.
My suggestion is to step away from the Internet/tv for a few hours and then come back and read your posts and comments. Or try to read them as if another person wrote them. Anyway just my thoughts... and I've been through many ups and downs in my career including the "bubble" and several others - both from the accountant side and the tech side.
I will share once again a video - it works in this situation:
