in Playdom expands from MySpaces games to Facebook on VentureBeat
The nice thing about the games industry is that you can never have too many, especially when it costs nothing for users to play. If they can bring something new or interesting (or both) to Facebook, they'll do fine.

in MySpace Teams with Flock, Vidoop to Push OpenID on Social Times
This seems to go against their platform which relies on Google, and the fact that Google wants to push their own accounts on users as a competitor to OpenID.

in Mark Zuckerberg, Sarah Lacey Interview Disaster on AllFacebook
I don't know why people are surprised about this. Sarah is like every other vapid talking head in the valley... promoting her book and her name more than actually trying to deliver a good performance. I was incredibly bored with the interview as a whole and everytime Zuckerberg sparked my interest with something exciting, she cut him off and brought the discussion back to superficial crap again.

in Is MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server dead? on Scobleizer
This is such ridiculous crap. I'm never clicking a link to this blog again.
Just to be fair and make a real comment, though, Scoble, whatever happens in the startup sector DOES NOT disrupt the industry. Startups make up a very very small portion of the tech industry and usually run on free or low-cost solutions.
If you want to talk about "disrupting" you have to look at the enterprise market and see if anyone in any IT position will honestly consider dropping a mature and total-control option like Oracle to use a limit service from Amazon. That's where all the money is at for providers like Oracle and MS, not the punks in SF bootstrapping worthless apps.

in Mark Cuban’s P2P Ideas Suck — Elliott C. Back on Elliott Back's Blog
I can't believe how STUPID he is about this issue. And then when he gets a bunch of comments from people who disagree with him, he puts up a post asking if he should allow unmoderated comments, where he says the comments have been getting nastier. Well, if you are going to say stupid things, what do you expect? Hmm?

in Say Goodbye to The Office on Dotcomslashblog
It shows that being on the other side of the pond really limits your knowledge of the U.S. series and its cast.
The Office has been slated for 10 1-hour episode segments in the start of Season 4, meaning it's one of NBC's biggest shows (along with Heroes) and the viewership has been high. It sells a lot of DVDs and online episodes too. And if you ask me, the most recent episodes have been amazing. I think it has to do with the fact that the show has a huge team of writers, with different people writing different episodes, so the material doesn't get old fast. I saw every episode of the British original, and the difference is that the British one moved too quickly. A lot happened in two seasons and then it jumped 6 months ahead and the whole conclusion was done in 2 episodes. It was a great show but there was so much more that could have been built on. The US version moved through basically the same storyline in 3 seasons instead of 2, and filled in all that extra time with a lot more character development as it explored some characters that either weren't touched upon much in the British version or didn't exist there at all.
As for the success of the actors, Steve Carrell (Micheal) is in huge demand right now, with a couple of upcoming projects that I wouldn't play down (Dan in Real Life and Horton Hears a Who). Jon Krasinski (Jim) is doing movies too, though License to Wed didn't do well. Rainn Wilson probably shouldn't have gotten involved with The Last Mimzy at all; don't know if he has anything in the pipeline. I think it's safe to say that most of the actors won't have anything big after The Office, and Ken Levine's words are definitely right on the money, but The Office itself is a good show to be involved with right now, so if I were one of them, I wouldn't complain. I do think he may have been hinting to Rashida Jones in his writing, who played Karen in Season 3 and left promptly at the start of Season 4 to work on another show where she would have a leading role. It doesn't look like that's going anywhere for her, and I think she would have been better off if she had stayed on The Office for at least another season.

in 29% Of Technorati Top 100 Never On Digg Home Page on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
I think people are missing the point here... Digg is a primarily tech-focused community, and not all of the top 100 blogs on Technorati have to do with tech-topics. Some of the top 100 blogs would never make the frontpage of Digg, because their content would never appeal to the Digg community. Just because content is "good" does not mean it deserves Diggs... anyone who knows the Digg community will tell you that.

Christian I still think it is highly unusual for someone to get that many genuine links and not have some Digg suitable content, but maybe not a highly cultivated Digg audience.
I am sure a few of them could benefit from more exposure and would add value with topical news and commentary.
Most of the Top100 do cover material that appears on a regular basis on Digg.
