I am *very* happy to get a flood of tweets from some event that I would not otherwise know was happening...I love the serendipity and it lets me make up my mind what I find important in what is being reported - often I don't actually *want* it filtered by what the twitterer thinks is important.

If I think people are being too noisy I could tweetsnooze them. But I don't because Twitter being used like this works for me.

I don't think that they are losing me as a follower. If I don't find that event interesting, I just tune out during that tweetstream. It's no biggie to lose any diamonds among the dross by not paying attention, as I often have long stretches in the real world where I don't catch up with all the shining diamonds on Twitter anyhow.

I do have a second , unprotected account that I use almost exclusively for tweeting conferences, have done for months. Again, that's because of the way I personally want to use Twitter.

I think the issue is very much a YMMV. Thanks for raising it though.

Re: Library Day in the Life – Round Two?

I'd love to be part of it, but January 26 is Australia Day, a National holiday here in Oz :)

Re: What is a librarian’s day like?

Nice idea. Hope to do mine in the next couple of weeks. I have a desk at home and a desk at work, so I'll try to include shots of both of them. Work = much neater than home.

Re: Library Learning 2.1

I really like this model...particularly letting patrons play too. Will you be reprising the "Things" you covered in your first program, or doing totally new "things"?

Maybe there would be a chance to collaborate with others who have run a 23 Things program.....pool our resources to come up with a library of microexercises. I know there is the Learning 2.1 blog....but it still seems to involve more macro exercises.

Re: Raw and Vegan » Maintenance Mode

Thanks for writing that Kate. Yeah, you've exposed yourself - but to support and admiration.

Just the little "Weight loss" bar on the RHS sidebar is an inspiration. Me? I'm 70kg and want to lose 10kg. Seems like a big thing to me, until I look at what is happening for you.

I'm reactivating my Traineo account today. Thanks for the jump start.

Re: GameOn, ACMI and Copyright Stupidity

Faced with the same problem as you had at the same exhibition, I did the next best thing - whipped out my mobile phone and recorded audio as I walked from one end of the exhibit to another - lingering lovingly on exhibits like the Poly Play and the clothes worn by Max Payne.

Unfortunately my mob. was set to record on a crap quality format, so it was good enough to make the folks back home seriously contemplate buying an airticket and flying to Melbourne - but not good enough to turn into an audiofile to post on my blog.

May think of doing it later though...

In reply to DWZ - definitely worth it.

Re: Health Care - Second Life Style

Healthinfo Island has a consumer health library, a Medical Library for practitioners and a Medical Centre. I test this by waving my hand in front of the camera and seeing how the image differs from the spot my hand was at when I pressed the shutter.
2) How long does it take before you can take another photo?

Re: Guess-The-Google

Thanks for making my morning more fun....but also...wouldn't this be great to use in an info. literacy workshop to help people understand that you need to re-define your terms to retrieve what you want?

Re: Changes Abound

Congrats. Outlook 2007 also allows you to add a "RSS feeds" mailbox for feeds. I have used RSS Popper ( http://rsspopper.blogspot.com/2004/10/home.html ) to add an "RSS" mailbox to earlier versions of Outlook.

Re: A new project for me!

Congratulations Robin. New classifications for content providers aimed at indicating if a site has adult content of a sexual nature. It requires ISPs who provide access to these classified sites to restrict access using some kind of PIN number.

This new scheme starts 20 January 2008.

Mandatory ISP filtering applies to all sorts of sites, not just those classified in Australia as mentioned in the new scheme.
