And I'll give you that it works.

But, why in the name of all that is useful, would you need access to your recorded collection from a web page? If you're in a hotel, you probably/hopefully already have a TV. If you're at work, shouldn't you be working? if you can afford wireless access while you're sitting in the airport lounge, you can probably afford a DVD player for your laptop.

Maybe I just don't love/crave/need my TV content like some people do — I just can't imagine wanting to watch Lost from my tivo box served up to a web page while I'm not someplace with a TV.

My prediction: It will go the way of the CueCat — another interesting technical hack, but utterly pointless device.

Full discolsure — I'm currently sitting in the belly of the headquarters of a large American electronics retailer that was part of the CueCat debacle, and also sells the Sling Box.

Re: IBM Laptop Concept For Spies

How about a place to hide toothpaste so you can have clean teeth on a plane?

And I love the thought that a laptop is usually on the go, and doesn't have a printer. So you added weight with a useless feature.

How about hitting CTRL+ALT+DELETE simultaneously gives the user a lethal shock, and wipes the computer clean. Of course, running windows, who wants to commit suicide every day or two?

Security knob - that's for sure. Seriously? Is that like freedom fries, or do "agents" do something with knobs now to practice their craft?

Re: OhGizmo! » Archive » The PetPeek

Lord - this would just give my dog more stuff to bark at.
