I think the whole thing about trying to tie Rev. Wright around BO's neck is just stupid. Nobody is putting the Revs. Hagee and Parsley as an anchor around McCain's neck. I know I personally would rather be caught in Wright's congregation than either Hagee or Parsley (and I've been in Parsley's church just outside of Columbus. Gave me the creeps actually. I wonder what the 1st Baptist would do to me here in Jacksonville. :S As it goes right now, you'd have to shot me to get to vote for McCain. Literally. Clinton I would hold my nose for (and will be laughing hysterically at the Republicans when she wins. Barack I would vote with a beatific smile on my face. I would be upset eventually that Barack won't keelhaul the Republicans would like HRC would, but I'd get over it. As I read in the Huffington Post (IIRC), just why is the undisputed discredited Right still managing to call the shots? Is it that damn liberal press?

When has anyone given 100% attention in any meeting? Laptops, cellphones, PDAs, pagers. How many years do you have to go back before the technology doesn't exist? Quite a few years. I know of meetings where the bleeps and blips of Palms was going on because two people with them kept exchanging notes back and forth. Who knows if any of those notes were even about the meeting itself? What exactly is the problem? Was it the fact that people were commenting about things that were going on (which evidently they were paying attention, because they were talking about the meeting itself, not the turmoil in Tibet or whatever the news of the day was)? Or was it the fact that the meeting/interview was just wretched? Sarah Lacy can complain all she wants, but if it was a bad interview, she's the one to blame. People are rude. That's a fact that's been a fact even before technology. I just hope that Ms. Lacy has learned something of the situation, instead of just crying that it isn't fair. Life in general isn't fair.

I turn a cellphone off when I go into a meeting. I don't use a laptop. But that's because, as the guy commenting on Zawody's post says, I bring 100% attention.

I remember the day I signed mine. The boss that I was working with and I were trying to do the .com thing before there really was a .com. I escaped after making too little money for way too much effort (the pay was the same for half the effort at the new job, and I got regular raises after that!). Luckily I managed to switch from programming to support, specifically networking. And I never looked back.
