The 5" x 3" touch screen is impressive, as is the 3-mp camera, keyboard, and UMTS. Honestly, I can live without GPS and the other flashy demos we've seen as long as the user experience is open and seamless, something which seems core to Android. Having 360 degree images is not necessary for creating an "immersive" User experience. People cry during television shows, ergo, they were "immersed" (emotionally).

My view is that "immersion" really requires a User experience where the User elects to move in different directions, not just "look around." And with any physical ("motion ride") component added, the value increases significantly. Truly "immersive" media experiences require more Disneyland/Epcot type features than what's available online or on my iPhone and the image quality does have to be great (IMAX film resolutionis far more "immersive" than any 360 video will likely ever be)

Re: Taking Stock Of Tech Startups In Paris

surprised to see that 10 of the 16 had a global market focus, thanks for pointing that out. You can read more about it at http://byetman.com/blog . The same guys that did that one ( http://www.agreenroof.com ) are just finishing a huge 750sq ft wall that has edible vegetables and herbs growing on it ( http://www.urbanfarming.org/foodchain.htm )...

Re: Fred Wilson Dot VC

Yes on rue des rosiers. I've had some major frustrations with it hanging/crashing, particularly when using Qik. Overall it's a great media capture device, but i wish the 3G support was better here in NYC.

Re: Fred Wilson Dot VC

that chuppah is amazing, looks like a gorgeous wedding. congrats on your anniversary as well!

Re: OpenSpime launches Developer Network

got a couple of my developers diggin into it this weekend...

Re: Guillory joins board of Immersive Media

thanks for pointing that error out!
who do you see as most exciting in the immersive space these days? i'm really liking the emerging mobile apps seeking to intelligently consume these datasets (mostly Android prototypes to date)...

Re: Outside.in launches Radar

Fred, this is where i think the 3G iPhone stands to make a huge LBS paradigm shift... There are plenty of GPS and/or triangulation enabled phones that can tell you where you are, and plenty of location-centric mobile apps that hinge on place, but the missing piece has always been seamless usability. If spatial context is elegantly handled behind the scenes, then these mobile apps become truly usable (unlike those where you have to manually enter place: whrll, brightkite, etc..). i'm really hoping outside.in can harness the potential.

Re: NYC Streetstream

I get a lot of love notes!

Re: OpenSpime Developer Network and .org launch today

Congratulations David on the release/launch yesterday! i can't wait to see the developer community embrace openspime and show the world what's possible. keep up the amazing work!
