Unfortunately, Dems could never get that kind of unity, even when it comes to standing up to the WORST PRESIDENT EVER.

WTF, Obama?! Now's your chance to give Pelosi a good talkin' to. That would smack of xenophobia, and we really can't afford any more isolationist moves in our foreign policy right now.

Also, if he vetos with a Sharpie, is that an indication that he'd like a nicer pen for Christmas?

Re: "The DNC and the Obama Campaign are unified and working together"

This is fantastic. I'm sorry if you think there is, but by prolonging this until the convention, McCain is virtually assured the Presidency. WTF is wrong with shrieking about it? Clearly, this C...linton isn't listening to reason. She clearly doesn't give a shit about the Democratic party. Screw her. WE need to kick her ass out. First of all, who in the entertainment industry--especially the talent--doesn't have an ego? This does not mean that all of their actions should be suspect. I can see where you might think this was a ploy; but I think that it's admirable to see a journalist who is willing to take a stand if she believes in it.

True, the story was about the protests for Sean Bell; but it seems to me that Lindsay had a great angle: showing the circus that protests and marches have become in this country. I'll bet if you attend any protest that garners even the slightest media attention due to the "story", and you'll see more paparazzi than protesters. Why? Because that's what people watch.

People like you. And me. And I'm seriously sick of seeing it. It's pandering to our basest instincts, and the worst parts of ourselves.

Go on, Lindsay! Keep givin' em hell.

Re: Lindsay Arrested: Yellow Journalism?

You rock, Lindsay. Truly. It's about time you taught your colleagues a thing or two about authenticity. The only other time I've seen it recently was in Anderson Cooper's reaction to Katrina; but that got cleaned up pretty quickly by CNN.

Keep on keepin' on. We're watching! (but I noticed Saturn didn't sponsor this segment...hmmm..)

Re: Ad Agency Gets Web 2.0! You're right. It is brilliant.

And regarding the institutional status of the agency: I actually find it to be a relief. Do we really need another CD posing as the only one at the agency that has these good ideas?

Re: Machines Threaten Advertising Grunt Workers

Max,

I agree with what you're saying in theory, but in practice, I think that the human spirit always rises above the machines. There are things that machines simply cannot do, and that is to gauge the appetites of other humans. Also consider that the rate of new platforms, technology and innovation in this space is going to outpace a Google or Microsoft that will try to account for and automate the media buying process.

The post I just did after I came back from OMMA speaks to this in a way. What I think is that Creative needs to be Open Source. For media companies, that means that the traditional roles for media people are not enough anymore. Most likely because of the automation you blogged about here.

The more we can all take our inherent creativity to market, and share the responsibility to engage with each other (meaning internally and outwardly to the audiences), I think that's when we'll see the "next big thing".

And speaking of connecting, sorry we missed each other at OMMA.
