Someone recently posed the question to me (a bit inelegantly) "well, what if no one wanted you?" To my later pride, my instant, internal reply was "Well, I would always want myself." Life isn't always 'complete' (with or without a partner), but there is one person that you can always count on: yourself.

Tough question....sometimes no, but you never know that until after. A good strategy: picture the little girl (sorry guys!) that you once were, loved or deserving of love, and ask yourself 'is this what I want for her?'

A now-framed piece of notebook paper on which my father diagrammed our family tree--from father to son. Crossing out my brother's name and writing my own (complete with middle initial) was probably my first act of feminist defiance.
