Yeah, it was a little jarring at first, since I've been working on a review of another phone that only has three levels... too sharp, too big, and way too big. So I was using too big when I switched to the Pixel. But the default setting is actually pretty good, and the large option isn't bad either. If you have better eyesight than me, you might be OK with "small."

It seems to work in any app with the three menu dots in the upper right corner. In addition to Settings, I just confirmed that it works in Google Drive and Sync for reddit.

A lot of people who don't want to see ads already don't, because they have ad blockers installed. You can give them a way to contribute without feeling guilty.

Yeah, I have a rule of thumb that I use "2-in-1" to refer to anything with a detachable keyboard and "convertible" for anything with a built-in keyboard and a hinge that lets you tuck it away when it's not in use.

But that distinction isn't the same one used by some other folks in the industry... and it might not be as useful today as it was when I started. Because some 2-in-1s have hard keyboard bases that make them work just as well as laptops (on your lap) as they do as tablets. Others have kickstands and keyboard covers which work fine on a tabletop, but which are a bit less useful on your lap. And some have these weird keyboard bases that hold the tablet firmly in place... in a single position, and don't let you change the angle.

So really, we need at least 18 names for all the different categories.

Whoops, it's actually just a cut/paste error.

I did find a few other options though. Moon+ Reader has a built-in TTS engine, and so do a few others, including AlReader, which has a pretty lousy UI, but decent TTS.

Yeah, I really like the 10" Flip, which is just about the only model in that size and form factor right now. But I'm not sure I'd recommend buying a model with 2015 hardware right now unless we're certain nothing else like is coming along.

Hopefully davidlt is right and this is basically an upgraded model of the original with a faster processor.

Yeah, I kind of wish 1600 x 900px laptop displays were still a thing. That was the perfect resolution for my old 13.3 inch laptop.

But that notebook had a Sandy Ridge processor and rapidly declining battery life, so I replaced it with a model with Skylake/1920 x 1080.

I waffle between using 100% and 125% scaling depending on my needs. It's nice to be able to fit more content on the screen at once, but I find myself sitting very close to the display when I do that. :)

I did think about holding out for a 15.6 inch FHD laptop like the new LG Gram now that it's possible to get a large screen notebook that weighs just over 2 pounds. But I didn't want to pay the premium price for that just yet.

Exactly. At 10 inches, I think of the Flip as a tablet that also has a tablet mode. Honestly, the main thing I use tablets for is reading comic books, and a crisper screen isn't mandatory for doing that, but it is nice.

Anything 11.6 inches or up is laptop-first, and at that size FHD can actually be kind of problematic because desktop-style content doesn't usually scale all that well.

Yep. I think screen size matters, which is why I'm surprised there aren't more 10 inch models. I probably would have bought a Flip by now if Asus launched one with a higher-res display.

Maybe the C101 will go full HD (but I wouldn't bet on it).

Which did you try? I really liked the original Chromebook Flip since it was small and light enough to use as a tablet first and foremost, and a notebook when I wanted the keyboard.

Right now I've got an Acer Chromebook R13 in the house which I've been putting off reviewing for ages because I can't make myself want to use it as a tablet, so for the most part my review would focus on notebook functionality at this point.

GPD just confirmed to me that they are indeed shipping models with the Z8750 (which is also what the GPD Pocket will ship with).
