Many people don't even know about lists, and the one drawback is they seem to have limited support in the available twitter clients. I've been curating a 'cybersecuity' list of my own for at least that long (which is where you are, by the way), but even so, I find my main feed gets feature creep as I follow people for various reasons: to DM, reciprocity, simplicity (again, because most clients don't support 'add-to-list') etc.

Re: Predicting the iPhone 6S Features

Was this post originally entitled "things I wish had been included in the iPhone 6 release"? You're dead right about evolutionary. These features have been in a number of phones for over a year already. Seems like Apple is playing catch-up much more these days. I think that was fine when they were releasing a rock-solid product, but now we're seeing a lot of bugs shipped with the devices, like we get with other vendors who are focused on getting product out the door, rather than on quality.

Re: The Hackademic

I have run it a couple times on my linux system. My tests have been with photos of recipes from a book. It works well in some sections and less well in some others, though I suspect that is mostly due to the uneven nature of the photos. I'd expect it to work much better.

From a workflow perspective, it is pretty straightforward to run the source through imagemagick's 'convert' program, and then pass the created tiff through tesseract. It's quick and relatively painless so far.

Re: The Hackademic

Have you ever looked at using Tesseract for the OCR component? It's multi-platform and open source, so doesn't carry the pricetag of the others.

I know very little about OCR software capabilities, but it does look like Tesseract can output in pdf and 'hocr', which -as I understand it- is an html file with coordinates to the location of the word's image in the original document.

EDIT: Okay, upon looking further, I see that Tesseract cannot directly ingest PDFs, so one would have to add a conversion step to the workflow. Looks like some people have worked on this and posted a bash script to the user forums: https://groups.google.com/d...

Re: Evernote Reminders + Postach.io | Evertips

I often change the date in the way LaShaun mentions. There are some good sci0fi books about the surveillance state:
http://motherboard.vice.com...

but off-hand I don't know any that specifically address the downfall of a person or society due to the ease of which information can be obtained. I could see small businesses using Evernote for Business really liking this service for a multi-author blog. Whatever the premium model, you should look at partnering with Evernote so someone could purchase a year of premium service for both services at a rate that is discounted against the cost of each individually.

Re: Best Lumia apps – Weather and News

I find the weather channel app to be too slow on startup and clunky to switch between locations.
