Moreover, this is just another form of bullying. I can only imagine the conversation if a neighbor were to approach me about my voting habits. My response, "Sorry, I missed the last couple of elections as I was too busy defending your freedom and right to ask me why I have voted." This is completely asinine, but typical of Florida.

Re: Flier attempts to shame people into voting by listing neighbor's voting history

I'm certain voter shaming will boost turnout at the polls. Florida has many vacancies mostly because poor working conditions (i.e. non-exsistance of nurse to patient ratios), understaffing, and poor wages (new grads can expect approximately ~$20/hr. Moreover, many (if not most) do not offer any type of retirement benefits or compensation. Worked with a OR Nurse that worked for the Health First System in Brevard County that retired with more than 25 years didn't receive a "thank you for your service to the organization" talk. There's no emphasis on professional development or continued education. They will constantly remind you that "Florida is a ""right to work"" state." The bottom line is more important to the health systems and they will reduce/cut staff if overhead exceeds profits, which means they are in constant state of hire. If you want very poor compensation, difficult working conditions, and organizations that will not value your education, professionalism, and patient advocacy then florida might be just for you. Look before you leap, as there's a reason RN's in Florida head out of state either on travel assignments or accept permanent positions in other states.

Former FL OR Supervisor

Re: 13,000-year-old teenager was early American

So, you're telling me Columbus didn't "discover" America? Don't get me wrong, I love what the team is doing on the field and these game most certainly MATTER. But in 2001 Seattle won 116 regular season games and went 4-6 in the playoffs. Let's just keep everything in perspective. I'm gonna give some credit to Detroit and Verlander for mixing his pitches that keep the batters off balance and chasing pitches. All is well because we still have the chance to take this series tomorrow before they head home. No matter how we slice it, this road trip has turned out far better than ANY of us expected.
