But out of ALL the TVs in the world, you recommend a TCL 5, and upgrade to the TCL 6, and the competition section only mentions 3 other models? Am I to believe you only reviewed 5 televisions in order to write this guide? Not even a cursory mention of Vizio’s models? What about Samsung’s broad lineup? LG? Hisense?

I have come to expect thorough investigation from Wirecutter, and am frankly shocked at how cursory this article appears. It almost reads as though TCL sponsored the article and said “I don’t want to read anything about our direct competition”. Very uncharacteristic of Wirecutter, and for such a high profile article as “best TV” I expect a lot better.

Re: The Dishwasher Detergent We Buy

You guys used to have an entire article that was well researched and recommended Cascade Platinum Pods - I remember because I read it and purchased some. This was pre-NYT acquisition.

Now that full review is gone and replaced by a short article that says "it feels like Finish All in 1 Tabs (TM) are the best" and doesn't mention any other brand.

What's going on here Wirecutter?

Re: Does Grounding Really Work?

Come on people - I don't think you know what the word "quantifiably" means. Twice in this article you said grounding "quantifiably" improves Dave's jet lag and sleep, and then proceeded to immediately offer totally anecdotal, NON quantified opinions devoid of any facts or numbers whatsoever. This article is no better than any of the rest of the sham medicine on the internet. I expect better from a leader of the "quantified" self movement. Shame on you.

Re: Zack Kanter: Growth extremes are not our only options

Your continued age-bias and obvious unwillingness to even consider both sides of an argument makes continuing this discussion counter-productive. Let's take some samples of the ageist language you've woven (consciously or unconsciously) through nearly every comment you've made on this article:

"leave Boulder's future to the adults"
"This 29 year old's opinion is noted and disregarded"
"millennials admittedly don't follow local politics" (you have now since edited to add a "that")
"I've penned ... longer than you've been alive."

You should ask yourself why you have such bitterness against a full 25% of the US population that you disregard their opinions out of hand and lobby for charter amendments that will prevent them from even moving to Boulder at all. I'm beginning to understand why you insist on commenting under a pseudonym.

Re: Zack Kanter: Growth extremes are not our only options

The fact that you just painted 83 million people (25% of the US population) with the broad "millennials don't follow local politics" brush shows how closed minded you insist on being.

If you'd like to refute the content of this op-ed, a better tactic would be for you to lay out a rational and well reasoned argument in favor of 300 and 301. Simply "I want Boulder to stay small" is quite head-in-the-sand and me first. Try to think through why 300 and 301 are good for all the current and future residents of Boulder. The world isn't a photograph, it changes. It's our job to manage that change as best as we can.

If you are not willing to participate in the debate on an adult level instead of slinging insults and accusations, I'd suggest that perhaps it's you who is acting like a child.

Re: Zack Kanter: Growth extremes are not our only options

Don't be ridiculous. So anyone that wasn't born and raised in Boulder shouldn't have a voice? I was neighbors with Mr. Kanter and can assure you he most definitely lives in Boulder, volunteers his time mentoring local entrepreneurs, invests in the community, and has the best interests of Boulder at heart.

Further, the implication that "a 29 year old person" is a child and unworthy of commenting is closed-minded, ageist, and reprehensible.

This is a debate worth having. I'm sure your opinions would be taken more seriously if you refrained from ad hominem attacks and attempted to actually discuss the issues.

Re: Multi-TLD Routing in Laravel

This worked flawlessly for me in combination with Ryan's logic in routes.php - well done!

Re: The 17 Things Every Entrepreneur Needs To Do To Prepare For 2014

This is an all around awesome list. We have a rather elegant solution in the south for the 2nd person plural - just drop a "y'all" and you're all set regardless of the company :) If only there were something similar that was generally accepted for 3rd person singular - "phe" doesn't seem like it'll work for the general population...

Re: Get Financially Organized – A 20 Something’s Guide to the Real World

Well if you follow the advice above, I think you're pretty well covered. You'll have $5,000 of cash in your checking account, which should last you for several months if you were in a pinch. Plus, all of your savings besides retirement funds are in publicly traded, liquid stocks or mutual funds - which you could easily sell if you burned through your $5,000 and needed additional emergency funds.

To me, it just doesn't make sense to have the $5,000 PLUS some additional money all in cash, earning 0.5% interest - for my risk profile, it would be much better to put that excess cash into some relatively safe mutual funds and let it earn a return, then liquidate if you ever needed the cash in a pinch.

Re: Push Notification Overload

I haven't used Android as extensively as iOS (iPhone owner) but have definitely played with friends phones. I think Android is much closer here to the way things should work - some notifications scream for your attention, while others are less urgent and fall into the "tray". I think you need both types.

I also like the badging that iOS allows - it would be handy to somehow double tap an icon and receive a list of notifications that app had sent - basically a look "behind the badge" to see what those notifications are.

Re: Push Notification Overload

I actually think you've got to do more than that and re-architect how the notification system works. The trouble is that there is only one type of notification - a big modal dialog box that interrupts everything I'm doing, and stacks one after another if more than one pops up. Once you dismiss it, it's gone forever, no way to review history if you can't deal with it RIGHT NOW.

IMO, intrusive modal notifications should be reserved for things that are urgent - an SMS or other alerts as designated by the user. All other notifications should end up in some sort of stream that you can peruse when you have the time. Sort of a news feed for notifications.

Re: PHP: Remote Kill Switch – Make Sure You Get Paid

Thanks for the kind words - glad I was able to help :)

Re: The Ferriss Experiment – 4 Hour Fact or Fiction?

Hey Andy - I actually do have my workout plan written down, along with recipes for several "repeatable" paleo meals.
