Our contractor and architect tell us "standard pool depth is 1.2 meters!" But it's not enough. Now I'm discouraged, because you're having trouble going down and another $10K for explosives and such isn't going to work. But wait! We're on the beach, so maybe they can dig deeper in sand? Else I guess we'll have a lip around the pool.

Enough about me, your plans are lovely. I especially like the sound of the lush garden. Pool-in-a-tropical-jungle. Very nice, no matter how big or deep the pool.

If ours is any indication, it's probably as wild as can be. Mexico has been gripped by a drought this summer, with Merida only getting about half the rain it normally does. We hate to imagine how much more our respective gardens could be if it were not the case.

Those doors are amazing. Gorgeous. I am crosseyed for lack of sleep and I've just found you. I'll be back tomorrow to read it all. We don't start renovating our little house until later this year. Maybe I'll learn how it's done from y'all. ;-)

I don't think he had to go at all. The ones screaming "off with his head" are the same frothing lunatics who are bellowing 'I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK' (with the subtext "from the Black man) in town halls. These are the people who insist he wasn't born here and has no legitimate right to the presidency. These are the ones who uphold Rush Limbaugh as supreme leader, kowtowing to him and apologizing should they offend the old fucking toad.

So yeah, he could have stood up to them. For once. He's giving in on every fucking thing. Where has he drawn a line with the Repulicans and said NO MORE? Where is that line? I haven't seen it on any issue. He's too quick to back down, too weak to defend. It's just a fucking tragedy.

I'm pretty convinced that we don't actually have a Democratic majority. With the 11-12 right wing Republicans-in-Democrat clothes, we're actually the minority party.

It continues to play out that way. The problem is that no one important ~ like Obama, for one ~ is pointing out the fact that a good chunk of those who are sitting Democrats in Congress are actually wingers in disguise.

Until we get rid of those fuckheads, we're still hopeless.

This is just another effort to paint Michelle Obama as some kind of threatening force in the White House. Before long, the meme will be that she's the driving force behind Obama's actions, that she has waaaaaaaaaay more influence on what happens in American than even the President himself.

Black president? Scary. Black female pseudo-president? A fucking nightmare.

Another successful step in the ongoing right wing effort to complete destroy the unions. I didn't hear a thing about salary concessions from those at the top of the GM heap, but the union has scraped to the bone to try to accommodate and to keep GM in operation. The workers built what they were told. I blame management for this in entirety. Too bad they don't suffer like the workers.

Good God, you'd think that being able to "experience the thoughts, feelings, and attitudes" of those before her would be an asset, not a liability.

Do they think she will only empathize with the weak and powerless? That would certainly be my hope, but it doesn't seem as if Judge Sotamayor's as much of a lefty as I am. I expect that her ability to empathize would be distributed equally among the parties appearing before her. It seems like a prerequisite for fairness, to understand each party from his/her/its point of view.

Mainly, I'm afraid, it's the brown thing. And the vagina thing. And it pisses me the fuck off to hear these yahoos yapping about her when they fell all over themselves for the Bush appointees, all of whom empathize deeply, sincerely, profoundly, with power.

And another thing, the cost of health insurance is breaking our backs, but we've just got to suck it up and keep paying, lest the insurance and drug companies experience a loss of revenue.

Who is ever EVER going to fight for us? For working people? Certainly no one in office now. The power in this country lies with the corporations and their puppets in Congress. They will drain us until there's nothing left, and with the apologetic approval of our elected representatives.

Single payer is the only sane way to deal with health care in this country, yet it's essentially being ignored, those who are making the case for it are being arrested, and no one is listening to the people on this issue because we have no power against corporate rule. There's your fucking tea party, right there. Not those right wing yahoos who were flinging tea bags over the tax cut they're getting in the stimulus package. Idiots. Another story. I am pissed. off. about. healthcare. and our refusal to act on this issue. Sick of it.

Here endeth the rant. Thanks for allowing me to get that off my insured (to the tune of $1600 a month) chest.
