If you are going to tell me that everything started from the Big Bang, then you have to believe that something can come from nothing (BLIND faith?), after all, where did the first rocks in space come from...or the smaller universe that everything came from.

If you believe in GOD, they all you have to believe is that GOD came from nothing.

There are two big reasons the education system is failing us in California right now: (1) not enough parent involvement in their kids' lives, plain and simple; and (2) the government keeps taking money away from education to spend on entitlement programs for the bottom feeders of society. Since California is so concerned with helping everyone out, it comes at the expense of common sense. The money has to come from somewhere. It's time for California to stop being the big nipple for every illegal, uneducated, illiterate, procreating leech to suck on.

It's time for the state of California to embrace the Common Sense Bill of Non-Rights (as quoted from the internet):

"We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines....

vBulletin 4.0 = vBulletin 3.8 with a new skin.

That is basically what you are getting. I can not express my disappointment enough about vB4. A complete and utter let down.
I myself am now leaving vB and moving to IPB. Since having a look at IPB I now notice that vB have really tried to make 4.0 a lot like IPB but failed massivley. To be honest I can see why vB tried to copy IPB, their software is much better looking and the front end is alot more user friendly.

I don't think Astana will be an issue at all for Contador. He's just too strong. The only rider on RadioShack he has to worry about is LA because LA won't let anyone challenge him for team leadership and there's no way LA can drop AC AND we've seen that LA can't keep up with the viscous accellerations of Contador or Schleck (we know Levi can't either).

All you Armstrong fans just need to think back to Verbier. Only two riders were able to attack at the base of that climb after Saxo and Garmin put the hammer down. AC and Andy Shleck. The rest were absolutely at their limit (just as LA admitted). AC is in another league right now.

Like I said in my original post -- since the enrollment is done by lottery, then the student body reflects the makeup of the lottery participants. If the "poor people" you refer to want to go to Charter, they can get on the lottery just like everyone else and have the same chances of getting in.

Attendance at the Charter School is reflective of the people who **WANT** to go there. Like the article mentions, there is a lottery each year to get in (which my kids have been on for the last 2 years). Who cares what the demographics of the school are and why does it matter? Do people ever consider the fact that maybe some people WANT to go to Charter BECAUSE of the demographics there?

Not sure why CoW would be seen as intrinsically non-suitable for the enterprise. Shouldn't a CoW volume be just as reliable as the parent volume, assuming they share the same raid-level (most of my experience is with EVA snapshots, which are CoW, but can have less redundancy than the parent volume if desired) ?

Nigel, it's only the high-end DS (8300 I think is the model) which has the p570 aix-based controllers. I don't think the baby-shark (ds6800) is engenio based, that's the ds4xxx series.

I went to SNW a year and a half ago, and it was a TOTAL waste of time. Would have gotten more out of a paper symposium as the rep from Dunder Mifflin. The only reason I went for one day is because it was in town, the list of talks was NOT promising in the least. The complete lack of technical content was borne out by my short visit. I've been to several DECUS symposia in the past which were great, so I know it doesn't have to be that way. Tons of from the trenches FM sessions, and vendor presented sessions deeper than the thickness of a sale brochure.

I had a followup survey about the show and I told them exactly what I just said, and the next year the schedule was another load of the same chid.

What school of logic suggests that fewer cars driving through downtown is better for downtown? Don't you want people to drive through, see a place that interests them, and stop? They cannot do that if they don't drive through in the first place because they were diverted to Butterfield.

I walked through downtown last Saturday and found that there was plenty of room to walk on the sidewalks and more than enough crosswalks to get to the other side when I wanted to.

This idea seems like a total waste of money. How about spending that money on our schools instead?

This is such a wonderful law!! I think it doesn't go far enough, though. Many people injured in car accidents have head injuries. It's about time that NH take charge and lead the nation in requiring full-face helmets for anyone riding in or on anything that moves!

Think of all of the non-thinking future nanny state voters' lives we could be saving!!

I know Sgt Ciccarelli having gone to school with him.....he was a tremendous athlete and was always a noisey kind of guy which would make him a good cop...looking at the picture of Patrolman Saindon in the paper I can see that the dog is almost as tall as chick..............his (dog) hair is darker though

I'd really love to see someone trying this on the HP 2133. It took me a long time to get Ubuntu running on it, and i can't get myself to kill it again, so for now i'm not willing to to it. But would be interesting for sure!

Well, you can completely configure the screen to your likings... And you do not just deactivate the taskbar (that would be the windows way of doint things), you completely remove it. You can make the taskbar very small and only like 1/3 of the screen if you like... everything is possible :)

This is a major problem. We need to get the government on this right away. We need to shout from every rooftop that teens are having sex and we need to figure out when this started happening and why.

Loved the phone but had to return it was not the phone for me. Unless you have small fingers there isn't a virtual keyboard out there for anyone no matter how "smart" the phone is, it was hard for me to touch several buttons, especially on the sides. The volume was low even on the highest level, but the speakerphone was very good volume. The touch screen should have a lock for your settingss. unless you touch the top button, the screen wont go blank for over a minute. The keychain stylus is a big pain, it should of had a slot in the phone for it. I would probably lose 10 of these a year, and is very inconvenient if keep your phone in your pocket. And my biggest complaint is that if you are outside on a sunny day (even in the shade) it is next to impossible to see anything on the screen (really, really bad). When I returned it, the person said that was the most common reason for people returning the phone.

Are you people for real? I thought Morgan Hill had more educated and rational people in it...maybe I was wrong. The police are only the bad guys if you're a criminal. If you're a law abiding productive member of society, the odds are you will never encounter the police outside of a traffic violation. And when was the last traffic violation you got that you didn't deserve? Every speeding ticket I've ever received was because I was...(gasp)...speeding.

These guys did not belong on that roof, period. They deserved what they got and I hope this serves as a deterrent for other would-be criminals out there that this could happen to them. The only way to deter crime is fear of consequences and our country has become a bunch wimps who are quick to sue if the police look at them the wrong way.

Think about when you were a kid -- what made you obey your parents? Certainly not just because you knew right from wrong -- but because you were also afraid of the consequences. Thugs nowadays have no fear of consequences, which undermines the authority of the police and creates an environment that breeds more thugs. Scary thoughts.

When will hollywood learn that the quickest way to make a crappy movie is to use "Time Travel" as a plot device, and so it is that we come to the polished turd that is "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" (no not that one, the new one).

While were on the subject lets throw the canon in a corner and take a massive crap on it. Then take the pieces that didn't get any shit on them and throw them back in to the movie willy nilly.

I almost didn't go to see this movie when I heard it involved time travel. I mean the instant you bring TT into a movie it is nearly impossible to reconcile the paradoxes thus created. Seriously.... Deranged miner blames Spock for the destruction of Romulus so he "ends up" going back in time and once there decides to exact revenge on Spock by destroying Vulcan and Earth. Oh yeah Spock also "ends up" going back in time 25 years after that, and mean ol' Romulan guy is waiting for him, captures him and then proceeds to destroy Vulcan (and kills Spock's mom too the big meanie), and now we have 2 Spock's in one time and some junk that makes "Black holes" called "Red Matter" (imaginative name ay! cause it's matter, and it's red... get it?), and all the history of who, how, and what is thrown out the windows (the canon). So if Romulus is destroyed what would be the point of attempting to make peace with a race who's planet will be destroyed in a supernova some time in the future? You figure out the logic (or lack thereof) behind it all.

Next up lets change some of the characters.... Like making Spock and Uhura hot for each other (what, Ohhhh!, Huh?). Wasn't it Nurse Chapel who was hot for Spock, Oh... Right she's not in this one. Oh and Uhura rooms with a green Orion slave girl with a bad body paint job (cause Starfleet needs horny oversexed controlling women in it's ranks). Well make Scotty an eccentric guy with a little alien comic relief dude for an assistant. Then there's the reckless, yet some how always right Kirk. Except Kirk was never reckless. Spock is played as a brooding know it all (broderline EMO) douche bag who flies off the handle over the slightest insult, and don't even say "yo mama" to him. Then for good measure toss in a little bit of Sulu and Chekov (just a little cause we don't know how to develop their characters). Though we will make Chekov an over reactive spaz. Then there are the Vulcan's who have suddenly become snotty eugenics types who conveniently have emotions whenever they feel like it.

Now the ships and equipment... The inside of the ships vary from hospital like sterility with a touch of art deco discotheque thrown in, to what looks like a large chemical plant , sewer plant, or maybe a brewery. The hand phasers did a silly mechanical switching from stun to kill. The giant mining ship looked like it escaped from an episode of Babylon 5. For a utilitarian device it has alot of un-necessary nasty/evil looking spikes and protrusions all over it. I could just see some Romulan ship designer having his design rejected for not being SCARY enough "damn the cost! I want my mining ship to scare the piss out of an asteroid before I strip it of minerals". The Enterprise looked like Chihuly had a hand in it's design.

Okay... Enough Bashing, now to the things I did like about the movie.

The CG and special effects are top notch. The battle scenes are nice and messy, and sometimes when we are outside the ship there is no sound (just like in real space). We get to see the Enterprise maneuver more like a fighter jet then wallow around going only left and right like they did in most of the TV series.

There were some quite funny, but mostly irrelevant moments throughout the movie. There is even the gratuitous red shirt who gets killed. Doctor McCoys Character is nearly spot on, and he spouts a few of TOS cliches. We actually get to see Captain Christopher Pike do something more that go "beep" or even "beep.... Beep....". The original communicator even makes a couple of cameos.

For the most part though they might as well have made the movie about a completely different set of characters that had nothing to do with the original.

The point is, 10 years ago, when Race Week was still relevant (and in good hands), it was good for everyone. The racers would hang out in town, and frequent local businesses. Today it is a joke, run by a guy that has no clue of the tradition Race Week used to be. Nowadays, the locals just roll their eyes when someone reminds them Race Week is coming.Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the OHYC is getting a chunk of the money, I mean how else would they be able to afford brand new deck shoes?? The problem is, nobody has Oak Harbor's interests at stake.

I for one am glad Race Week is over. And I'm not alone.

So what there should be some test to see if a person is of your mentality or level to be able to run for a position? How does one qualify to be a politician?

Rain has a collective symbolic meaning throughout the human psyche, that is it is a symbolic representation of tears and therefore pain and healing.

With that in mind the endless rain is constant pain of not having the one he wants. The fact that the rain is in the summer would indicate that the rain is warm and perhaps more comfortable and maybe even desired.

I have an iphone, and I am also a developer. I had a palm treo before this.
The only thing the iphone can do natively that my 4 year old treo could'nt,
is wifi and gps. I do like it now, but I and millions of other business and
IT professionals managed without it just fine. My Palm treo even had the
ability to use touch signals with zooming and scrolling abilities using
programs that supported it. One that did was a file reader called
"Picsel Proviewer" do a search on youtube for demos. Most of the demos are
on windows mobile devices but it did work on Palm OS treos as well. Actually
apple probably stole the tech from these guys. All the while you guys were
probably having wet dreams about your new Razor.

I am looking forward to the Palm Pre even if they pay Crapple money to license
the stolen technology.... its better then the iphone simply because it runs
on Linux.

My question to dumb asses/crapple fanboys/girls.

Do you really think the OS on the iphone is better then a full running linux OS
which is what the Palm Pre runs on?... do you even understand the possiblities
that could bring? I am talking about all the things like flash support,
copy/paste, native divx support, etc... Yes, I know there are some 3rd party
apps that allow some copy and pasting. Ha...now you fanboys cant say, hey dumb
ass, their are apps that allow copy-paste. Sure if that's what you want to
call it. Also TomTom navigator fully ran on my treo. Iphone doesnt even have
any real offline maps app. Just some that allow you to download sections of
google maps to view offline. In comparison to TomTom...there is no comparison.
I was given this iphone as payment for a job. I had never planned to purchase
one. My treo still works fine and I still use TomTom on it all the time.

Anyone who thinks ONE company can make better products then HUNDREDS of

It's not that the citizens won't pay for the project. If the gov can pay for this then the City can save money. Yes it will make a difference. 18 firefighters translates into 6 firefighters per shift. There are three shifts. The City will have the ability to leave an engine company in service to handle the other calls that will happen during a large indecent.

What I find unforgivable about this movie is it even violates its OWN plot line absent any externally established facts in enterprise or previous movies.

Spock came back in time after witnessing the romulan cataclysm which created this whole plot line.

All that was necessary was that he communicate the exact dates, times, and locations to federation high commmand and avert the destruction of vulcan.

The fact it was not done is a wholesale violation of logic, in both the vulcan and the mathematical sense.

The "alternate reality" simply should not have persisted beyond the point at which spock gets the opportunity to relay the information and avert the initiation of the loop in the first place.

It doesn't bother me. Technically, it isn't a different zune since the hardware is the same; the outside and preloaded content are different. GOW2 is MS/CliffB's product and they are just making people that like GOW2 have a reason to try out a Zune.

To me, this is no different from when Apple released a red iPod nano for breast cancer back in 2006.

@Shado - 100% agree. It is going on 2 years and I haven't seen/heard 1 Zune ad on TV/Newspaper/Radio or anywhere. I've said this before and I'll repeat it again...MSFT can not adverstise! They wouldn't even be able to sell to a fellow human why oxygen is needed!

It is bad to see India loosing. But the worst part is, they gave up the game once Dhoni was out. Agarkar was going for big shots after facing few dot balls, which was totally unnecessary. There were more than 20 overs left at that point. They should have just played cool down and decide to play all the 50 overs. The result woudl have been different, at leat by a chance of 10%.

Well to be honest there is a long standing tradition that the first film in a series (especially comics) is generally crap, just look at Fantastic 4. Part 1 of 4 was okay but the storyline kind of dragged for awhile but was needed to introduce those ignorant to the origins of the characters. For the origin story this movie was well done in the fact that it fit the time limit that most people would not be saying,"It's too long!". To get a good story in any of these intro films and give the background we would be watching a film 4 hours long! No Thanks! That is why the second movie in a series is usually better (X-men for example). GR does an adequate job of exploring the origins of the "rider" while mixing in the most possible story that would fit in to a roughly 2 hour frame. It can be said that the fights could have been a bit longer but the main action sequence don't forget is the police chase of the GR. This left little time for an extended fight scene but the fight with Blackheart could have been longer, afterall he is the lead villain. The graphics were wonderful especially the first transform scene. However the character name Blackheart does have a historical reference for the person who complained about it before. Blackheart was the nickname given to Andrew Jackson by many native tribes of the US for the level of evil they feel he released upon them. But in the end we must remember that GR is a dark character in the comics and has been made so in the first film. Now IF the sequel is made then we will see if the character will be allowed to stretch his bones.

Anyone from this area or anyone that visited Chesterton during the OZ fest knows this name next time be a little more clever! Maybe you used this name cause you feel you have all the answers? Actually the meetup attendance numbers doesn’t represent how many people actually show up! The real attendance is really more like 3-4 times the amount that RSPV for the meetup. This is true for any meetup even the sewing and book club meetups.

Why would that be you might ask? Maybe because they also get an email on the meetup and to RSVP they have to log in and sometimes they find out at the last min. they can attend. The RSVP numbers are irrelevant anyway. Since it doesn’t show the true numbers that attend. I hope the GOP meeting tomorrow does better than the 16 who RSVP’d. It would be pretty sad with what was it 100+ precincts leaders and equal number of vices chairs, plus the board and the local politicians you in reality should have way more than 200 people there right? But really you only usually get about 20 or so to show up mainly because half of those have to be there right? But what it does show even with a small meetup is that when just a couple do show up every day isshows me is there is a tireless few that cares enough to take the time out of their days to let others know about the Referendum on Nov. 3rd. I would rather see the 2-3 people everyday, than one day a year with a hundred people everyday takes more dedication than once a year! Here is a good quote. The only reason for regionalism is to take control from the local government and give it to a higher authority County government abolished authority given to the state, next will be state government abolished and the authority given to the federal government. The only step next is Federal to a World Government i.e. United Nations. Before you start jumping up and down to call me a nut check out the Department of State Publication 7277 (Freedom from War: “The United States Program for General and Complete Disarmament in a Peaceful World”.) Signed by Kennedy in Sept. 1961. It is still in effect today as US policy. Summary it’s a complete disarmament of the U.S. and our sovereignty given to the United Nations. You say we are anti-growth because we oppose the RTA. I say we are anti-regionalism and big government. Come on! A non-elected board that has taxing authority. This is a typically a Democrat idea not a Republican’s which is so very strange, the Democrat’s like Harper and Graham are against this but all the local Republican’s are adamantly for it. Yeah they may have backed away from the RTA even Soliday and Dobis have back away from it. Maybe because this vote will show the truth NOBODY WANTS IT! We don’t want to open our papers everyday with the politicians crying they have to raise taxes again and again trying to find more and more ways to pay for any of the transportation tragedies that follows public transportation. Remember when we had trains to Chicago that stopped at the Franklin house just a few years ago. You know what? They ended it why because of lack of funds and lack of riders! Amtrak was the train carrier it used the lines that are still in service and it didn’t cost us a billion dollars just to start up!

Now as for the Goliath know as Socialism such as Obama care and such they are still working on defeating that boondoggle. Pete Viscklosy who the Republican Party just loves and doesn’t see a reason to run anyone against him and Pete being the 13th most corrupt politician which is actually ironic since its Pete’s 13th term. Has stated in several occasions he will not read the Healthcare bill just the summaries of the bill. He is for the healthcare bill in about every form. Cause he believes it is constructional for the federal take over of healthcare. Why don’t you discuses things like this instead of taking aim at local a grassroots group? This blog is a sham of a news source, everything that is posted here is a joke! How many people actually read this site? You only seem to have the same 5 people commenting here and it’s just to pat each other on the backs! “Haha good post (insert pen name) your great!” “Oh yeah I didn’t write it but it does have a few good points.” “Hey (insert pen name) keep up the trashing of the RLC and NWIP’s and the tea parties your right on!” Even a blogger newcomer to NWIndiana like Kevin Tracy (Ktracy.com) has more hits than this joke of a blog site!

Last thing if you think a concerned citizen isn’t doing a good enough job at organizing.
Then why not go out and start up your own upset concerned citizen group. If you can be a better leader than its all yours! But in doing so DO NOT minimize anyone persons efforts no matter how small or trivial you think they maybe. The leaders and members of NWIndiana Patriots are also busy working and living their lives while your sitting at home complaining. Get off your butt get out from behind the curtain and do something!
If your not part of the solution your part of the problem!

Here Here Laura.... Polish is how Obama got into office with only one term in the senate. If someone that isn't qualified can win its because of polish! But in truth Laura the GOP didn't pick Richard so that is why he isn't qualified to run! Doesn't matter if he had more schooling, political internships, if the party doesn't pick you or accepts you somehow your now not qualified. But all the same they will also say they believe in the primary process. Its a double standard and I hope you and Richard can see that. It will be a huge up hill battle to run as a un-chosen non-gop-picked candidate. Because somehow that makes you unqualified.

Something to think about as regards the "how long does it take to recoup the costs of the PV panels in saved fuel" argument. How long does it take to recoup the costs of a 71" plasma screen TV? Or a new T-shirt? Or the Prius itself!?! There are other benefits to these green mods beyond just saving nickels/dimes/quarters on your next tank fill. It's knowing that you're doing your part, feeling good about what you drive when/if you drive it, etc.

Before you guys go off half-cocked, have any of you been under/around a wind turbine? They are WAY louder than you can imagine. I understand the need for getting off fossil fuel reliance but if all of us had these things running it would be miserable. I'm all for this move, it's a good start. But remember, the Lion King movie ends after 2 hours, and even if you have to sit through an entire Robbie Williams CD, it's over in under an hour. These things run as long as there's wind. Hopefully they perfect this technology and make it quieter, it has great potential.

In the bible there are references to the "Great Serpent" which many believe to be the middle easterners, but according to geography the garden of eden was in the middle east so the Serpent reference may be the US. I can't speak for the 65, but my objection to the article was that it contained lies, the clearest being "Ron Paul thinks 9/11 was a plot to create an excuse for war in Afghanistan/Iraq".

I didn't actually ask that it be taken down, though. My guess would be that the people in charge of that site took it down because it's legally risky to publish lies about public figures.
