in Arsenal Colorado on EPL Talk
Need to clarify: with respect to the minor league comment, I meant with respect to growing the sport in the US. I don't believe MLS will ever be the EPL (and I never said that it would), but I look at the American fan and I'm not sure they will be happy with that.
And I wasn't commenting on the name. I don't care about the name. I was hoping that there would be more to this partnership.

in Arsenal Colorado on EPL Talk
Well, that was a short and largely anti-climatic announcement.
There is a report that the name change isn't happening because the Rapids would either have to a) give MLS 18 months notice of a name change or b) pay a penalty to change it sooner. Maybe it will happen sooner over later, but we'll have to see on that.
I'm somewhat disappointed at this news now though. I don't know how MLS will be taken seriously if it's seen as a minor league to the EPL. However, I'm interested to see the commitment to grassroots development (Arsenal Cup) as that might be a good step to the future of the sport here.

in Setanta Considers Bidding on TV Rights to FA Cup on EPL Talk
One interesting note: the last time these rights went for sale, they actually went for cheaper than the previous contract (by about 28%). This time, the FA is shooting for a 25% increase at least. Interesting how fortunes change sometimes. With them seeking an increase, I have a feeling the BBC will be hard pressed to keep up.
I'll also note that nothing changes really soon on this, as this contract would not start until after the European Championships in 2008.

in Setanta Sports Unveils New Company Logo on EPL Talk
The logo itself is nothing too special to me. Not a bad combination, but the lettering is a little weird to me.
WITH everything else included however (the new ads and breaker graphics), I like it. The channel seems to have a much less third-rate feel now, which was what annoyed me about Setanta before. As an overall revamp, I think it comes out pretty good.

in FA Cup: An Unusual Weekend for US TV Viewers on EPL Talk
I'm with quid on this one. I want the matchups of the small (or smaller) against the big guys. Give me the Forest-Charlton or Tottenham-Cardiff games over Man U-Villa or Arsenal-Pool.
I'd love to see some of the other small matches as well, but reality sets in on what they will be available and the the people making those decisions. Oh well. Still a good weekend.

in ITVN Adds GolTV: Wise Decision or Not? on EPL Talk
I have to say that I don't get GolTV, even though my cable system supposedly carries it. For that reason, I would consider adding it on to my Setanta subscription.
At the same time, quite a few people do have this already. This isn't so much to bring in new subscriptions as to become more ingrained in the current subscribers I would guess.
