Banner ads these days, with some rich media buys, can be a microsite or "an experience." And you're right that a pure-TV creative might struggle with that.

But even if you manage to do something deeper/experiential with your banner ad once it's expanded, I'd still expect the TV guy to do a better job at the headline/image that would interrupt and get someone's attention. That's what they do.

Re: Banner Boys

Toad:
Dead on. In my mind, it makes perfect sense...

Traditional side? Good at making unwanted, interruptive stuff as minimally painful or as entertaining as possible.

Digital side (the good ones)? Good at making things people want to use/play with.

Banner ads sure feel more the former than the latter.

Re: Brand Tagging

grrrrrr...just had a post filled out, then registered with Disqus and had it deleted.

ANYWAY...I loved Brand Tags. Noah could monetize the hell out of that as a brand research tool...I hope it stays free for ad chumps like me. I already added some of my clients to the list. It'll be a real wake-up for us and them.

I loved some of the starbucks comments (not a client, btw). "Bitter" and "expensive" showed up so large that I had to scroll to read.

Congrats on your unveiling, btw...looks like you've got some great opportunities at your doorstep these days. Well deserved.
