Hum. I hate packed shows at the 400 and I hate dbags. I don't feel as bad for missing it.

Are either @thewhitehouse or @whitehouse_gov actually official Twitter accounts?

One of the most ill-informed posts I've ever read on Mashable. Do you not understand the difference between netroots and astroturfing? They're the opposite.

Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins So you're saying that giving away free bumper stickers is what makes this immoral?

I didn't read the article, but that is an awesome photo.

in Iphone failures - Uploading Photos on Geeked.Info
AirMe works a lot better with the iPhone and Flickr. It does the geocoding properly and can upload the full resolution. The application is a bit clunky yet though. I've emailed with one of the guys with AirMe about it and they're planning a pretty aggressive rollout timeline with bugfixes and features.

I wonder if Flickr will develop an Uploadr for iPhone.

in 2008/07/13/software-development-cycles/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Well, the traditional development cycle is out the window for web apps. You continuously get feedback and continue to add new features... at the expense of possibly buggier software. It's not like an operating system.

Somewhat joking: I wonder what the "version numbers" of Flickr and Gmail are and have been -- are we in the tens of thousands or have there been an indefinite amount of decimal version numbers?

Yes, it is frustrating to try to understand the development cycle and there is an abuse with terms (i.e. something some people consider "beta" isn't even "alpha" yet and sometimes there's betas that are much better than most people's RC's)... but the lines are blurred and it is only going to get worse, at least as far as web apps go.

It's disappointing: imagine if someone created an $30 application that played like a TomTom or a Garmin Nüvi... the whole consumer GPS market could change.

They have commented on it:

This is a result of some of the caching changes we made during last night's maintenance window. While those changes have made the service more stable over all, there have been some unintended effects.

We're aware of the problem and are working through it. It may take a bit to resolve but we are on it.

in Full Screen Firefox and Safari on OS X on Geeked.Info
Well, on a multi-tasking OS, why would you need the window bigger than it needs to be? What are you doing with all the whitespace in the window?

;-)

Safari's great because when you maximize the window, it goes to a maximum width of the website. Smart, IMHO.

Well, it's not gone, and we don't need RealNetworks either.

Disappointing that I can't seem to get it to work for accounts that use Google Apps.

in Post to Twitter when you post to your blog on Geeked.Info
I hate the Twitter Tools plugin. Twitter and traditional blogging are two different things. I don't use Twitter as an aggregation of whenever my friends create new blog posts. I use an RSS reader for that.

What happens unfortunately is that I generally remove from my Twitter friends people that do that - as they generally have other annoying Twitter habits as well. :-)

Hey, mind sending that to me? I have a really good throwdown mix of theirs, about 43 minutes long, that was pre-Never, Never, Land if you don't have it already.

I saw them live when they came through Minneapolis a couple years ago and they weren't so exciting but I dig their stuff.

What a load of crap. One of the reasons that Google bought out Android years ago was because it was a group of people that had a TON of experience in developing OSes and software for mobile platforms, most notably the Danger hiptop and WebTV even. If you had to pick people to lead up developing a new mobile operating system, Andy Rubin, Brian Swetland and many people with Android are probably some of the top brains and some of the most experienced people out there.

Maybe they'll starve development on it like they did with Dodgeball.

Pete Exactly what I first thought. Abandon Dodgeball, buy Jaiku (which is fairly similar, imho).

So who buys Twitter now? Yahoo? Certainly, the Twitter demographic overlaps a lot with the Flickr demographic and the del.icio.us crowd.
