I live in Merced CA, and we are the nations capital for forclosures a this time. 1 in 60 homes are in some state of foreclosure. We are not that far off from rent values at this point. Maybe 6 months. We are leading the nation however, the coast here is just starting to drop, and probably won't bottom as hard.

Any opinions on the GAS/OIL energy trusts - Canroys? Seems like another way to preserve capital from inflation... but they are not showing much strength. Wonder if they fail or bounce here.

I second the keyboard lovelyness. I ordered as soon as they came out and bought a few for some of my clients. Soft like a laptop, but spacious and overall, just better. Paradigm shift in keyboards, just like the iPhone is to cell phones.

I dont agree with everything he says, and it may be a bit off topic of investing, but Joel Kotkin is an interesting read and talk, and might be able to comment on housing trends going forward in the next decade.

I think we a ways from a crash...

We had such boom times the boomers are still fat and happy. They are defining the market for better or worse, it doesn't matter what I think or what my 2 and 3 year old think. Boomers have some mea culpa going on for the boom times and leading us into this mess - we crash when they have taken ALL their lumps and can't take more.

That's kind of hard to believe the Mac Pro 8 core tied the 2.8 macbook pro in a Photoshop Test. Actually ridiculous! Your test must not be indicative of real world performance?
