I'm a creative director for a children's ministry. My job is creative and actually fun... but the road hasn't been easy. I've suffered from both Depression and Anxiety disorder. Depression was hell... The world was gray at best. Nothing was colorful anymore, especially on medication that left me numb. After three therapists and a great psychiatrist, I was finally diagnosed with bi-polar2 disorder (the depression last longer than the mania). Thankfully, I have an amazing community that surrounded me throughout the worst of times with love and care; I'm still here because of them. I still suffer. Everyday is a choice to take the meds or not, but I know that the meds are grace from God. They allow me to live and thrive with my wife and three kids.

first of all. it's awesome that you're taking those steps in your life... we've been able to proceed with our adoption because of getting rid of the debt and extra in our life.

we go without: cable. home phones. new cars (Go Junky Car Club!). new clothes every season. we only "rent" videos FREE from the library. and rarely go see a new release film opting for the $3.50 theater - and even then it has to be a GREAT movie.

These are great, Los. You've hit the nail on the head. I started getting flack for working at a mega-church when we crossed the 5000 mark. But that second to last myth about the rescuing orphans and Bob - is so true. And being in a mega church allows you to do both well. We actually tithe more than 10% of our budget to help fund our mission's initiatives... At the end of the day it is about Jesus, thanks for making that in-your-face clear!

We're adopting a child right now because I was healed of a spending addiction. Because of that healing, we are able to save the cash to bring our little guy home from ethiopia. God is truly the great healer!

Have to say, that yes my wife and I do love ourselves a little Bryan Adams every so often. We even got the double-disk greatest hits that came out recently... We laughed at ourselves, but sang every track by heart when we play it!

I'm more of a Google Reader guy myself... My wife still swears by bloglines though, so I can't fault you...

This is awesome, Los! We're just starting the process of adopting our next son from Ethiopia. This post brought tears to my eyes as I think about my new little guy becoming more like me... I can't wait. We share in your joy! And now anticipate ours even that much more! Thanks, Los!

wow... I don't think I could schedule our teenage dancers/singers for KidStuf! without facebook. Group messages are the way to go... we all see responses. and you know if they've received it or not.

I post new atmosphere and staging to flickr... letting storytellers/hosts know what to expect on Sundays...

Just starting to use Twitter, but I've been using it more for networking than anything right now...

This fall we're going to start using Vimeo to post hand motions for preschool worship leaders as refreshers throughout the year, so every worship leader is doing the same motions.

The Pretender - Foo Fighters ... I shoveled to that track a LOT this past winter!

Discoteque - U2 is also a decent last-lap track as well. Those lyrics just push you to get it done...
