I would say no to that one. It would be like reading a novel in watered down LOLcat speak in order to learn English.

Hey Shio,
Based on what you said, I tried to invite myself using a non-freemail account, but nothing changed. I still get the mobile email request. :(

It's kind of something that comes up pretty late in you Japanese studies. It's something that usually books expect you to "get" eventually, even though it's pretty tough. I've never seen it in a book, anyways, but I haven't seen too many books, either.

I don't mean to be harsh or anything, but really you shouldn't be worrying about anything said in this article until quite a ways after you are able to read and write, so I think focusing on that first is your main priority at the moment.

yeah, it's a good book. I read it a while ago, but it's definitely been a huge help with everything. I can attribute a lot of the success of this site with that book :) My boss suggested it to me, so I ran out and got it.

Haha, yeah, I was going to say, I didn't write this article, our esteemed writer Erin did. Nice comment though, I'll have to check out that site.

You CAN put down 外国 or something like that...basically a "not Japan" category.

If you are going to become friends with each other, you need to figure out what your URL is, which can be found the following way:
Under your profile picture, click on the thing that says (in katakana) "profile."
Then, up at the top of the page there should be something that says "here is your URL," or something to that effect. Anyways, there is a URL up there that you have to share with people, or they won't really be able to find you. For example, mine is:
http://mixi.jp/show_friend.pl?id=7610926
You have to be logged in to see it.

yep, that's the one. He's the guy who was dating that girl who's in a motorcycle gang (among others at the same time, as well). He's a crazy frood, for sho.
@Lisa
Yeah, the celebrity pictures are the ones that throw me for the biggest loop. I should have thought of that one, besides the trains, rainbows, and helium balloons that litter the other 75% of profile images.
@FryChiko
Whoa, wait, what? There was a link of us on Japanprobe?? Where'd you find that? (and double-thank you for the compliments too!)

Ah, yeah, it looks like that post got caught in the spam feed. In response to your question, most Japanese think it's amazing if you can say a couple of words, and because of this, they are impressed with everything, even if it stinks. That's why you have to find someone mean or check yourself.

I think if they limited their whale consumption, it would be ok. I don't think it's good that they are going out and eating whales when they are dwindling in numbers. At least they aren't hunting blue whales.
As for the native americans, that's when I got to eat whale! The first Makah whale that was caught! Now they aren't allowed to do it again, tricky government.

I've eaten gray whale meat/blubber. it's pretty tasty, but not worth killing whales to get.

I would normally love to share how drama is to be gotten, but since I want to keep this site reputable, I thought I wouldn't go into full detail. Of course, we encourage you to go buy it (off the internet?), but I think other people who are commenting have give out other ways to do it :)
