of course, the iphone is "multitask", you can see that with background mail retrieving, or music playing stuff, or whatever.

but apple decided to allow multitask in third parties application will bring too much hassle on a so contrived memory device. it's a political decision. debatable, but yeah, it's apple. radical.

people are debating about the cpu, I say : PFFFft! the cpu is fine, let it alone. The main problem of the iphone is memory.

not enough memory !

you want third parties good multitask without slow interface, slow switching and massive crash ? you want HUGE memory !

with huge memory, the iphone would be able to keep a frozen application in memory for a long time (switching happily between my feeds, my calendar, my chess game and so on without reloading) or allow some certified applications to stay in background active ( IM messenging ? Radio app ?) without horrible memory swapping and crash.

After months of reading your blog and others, I bought a mac book air (yes, maybe it will amazes you, but you speak at length about netbook, and it convinces me netbook was NOT good for me)

So yeah, I "have thrown caution (and money) literally to the wind " but I really love that mac. Maybe my more pleasant experience ever with a computer to read web and write texts. but, my job is not concerned by the economical downturn.

You ditched (mostly) the e-kindle 2, for an sony e-reader. It's a bold move, very interesting.

it's not simply atheist, or christians, or agnostic, or muslims, or confucianist, or buddhist, or shintoist or whateverist who subscribe to that. it's ALL nice and decent people ! and they are many.

it's a whole world of nice, decent and caring people if they have a chance. the dark and rotten persons are only a few but enough to create damages, yes.

but the important thing is : the sufferings and despaired ones are legions and they do not have the possibility to be decent and caring. Life is not always great for everyone. sometimes the life is harsh and the choices are dims.

With time and help mostly everyone want to be at pace and caring for the needy. it's human trait.

So whatever your reasons, jesus, your good heart or whatever you need, just help people in any ways. in the end, it helps them to help others.

but it does not mean religion are bad or you should living as I say. Religion is an intimate thing, a private one and Politics should only assure everyone can believe or not believe what they want and be happy with their faith or not faith. but only that.

never a politician should speak too much about religion or whatever people should do or believe or not believe. it always leads to wars.

Obama speaks well; but he only speaks to believers of a god. I don't agree some people knows a "awesome place that god holds", I don't agree your, my, his, theirs religions, believing, morals or spirituality should have a place in politics. no.

it will be always division and separation. He can be all nice, polite, cautious, wonderful and loving he can, he will not succeed. it's impossible.

He simply told he is a christian and it's wonderful to knows god. others have not the "awesome" with them.. what a disdainful thing to say.

People could learn from jesus' teaching not because he would be the son of a God but because he said some truth, he said some helpful things. the sad thing is, he simply tell "I'm religious so I have principle! but be reassured you not awesome fullfilled people, I will not force my religion on you and be smart. because I'm a nice guy". (and he really seems to be a nice guy)

maybe the USA is 90% believers in God but to speak about it all the time, to base yours principles with only that it's wrong and discrimination in the end.

I agree he is a better man for USA than Bush. I'm frightened to watch than the USA continue to be so traumatized by jesus and god and he is also traumatized.
But he is a better man than many because he want to protect religion and people from a religious state. For that, I am thankful. not for the religious speech.

to understand abortion is a sad thing noone want to live (so the need of education!)

about stem cell, he is also cautious, reasonable and all for research who can help and save people in the future. (and it has nothing with harming anyone because a mere stem cell. the only real concern is if we will have the moral/ethical ground to avoid to loose controle about new treatment and their consequences in the futur)

the LGPL gives you the same concrete right than MIT to use the final product (cappucino) with your proprietary products.

You just can't appropriate yourself cappucino, modifying it and release it again AS a proprietary product. (you can't do "cappucino++ the proprietary version so much better")

but you can use it besides your commercial proprietary web applications with no problems. As you can use a LGPL cocoa frameworks inside a proprietary software without breaking the LGPL (or your own eula, because the LGPL authorize you to do that).

and lgpl is lawyer knowledge

webkit is lgpl, did it stopped nokia ? no. everything is fine, no need to worry. the licence is used and known as much than MIT or BSD.

the main point of Alex is the "everything buckets" is already in all mac: Finder and Spotlight.

and the filesystems is engineered for years to be efficient, and you can comment and relate documents by spotllght. He doesn't tell you to go back to thousands of folders and weird naming scheme.

The point is : use a good word processor, a good number application, a good adress book, let the computers index them natively.

(since spotlight, I totally stopped to create myriad of tiny hierarchical folders, I have just broad categorisations)

I never buy drm-crap-video and contents.

I buy content, yeah. for example amazon's mp3, drm free music on itunes store or others sources

but NO DRM ! no , it's too much hassle, complications and even a Torrent software is easier to deal with !

DRM is an industrial cataclysm.

So, I'm waiting. I can wait a long time, me and my money. I will not die If I'm not watching the latest will smith's movie or whatever.

I often use my iphone in fnacs (France) or other shop, Of course I take picture, browse the web and compare

and I do my business, I don't listen to vendors (never one stood before me) and I leave after I got the information I wanted. Maybe I will come back some day later to buy, maybe not, who knows ?

the point is : don't care about salesman.

heck, I remember, how one day I checked a mac in a fnac, opened the disk utility, the Information System and launched a bazillion of applications (to see if that mac is so much better), a salesman did try to tell me to stop. I watched the time it took to finish and I say "I'm looking to buy a computer. goodbye".

what can they do to you ? to push you out of the shop ? Fine, I'm in a hurry too :)
