The less stuff I own, the happier I am. And just like you said, I now buy nothing (other than books) unless it's something that I can and will use on a regular, if not daily basis.

Re: One word to describe John McCain? It has reinforced my suspicion that he may be in the early stages of dementia. Seriously.

I have a feeling that within a week, Gov. Palin will withdraw, and McCain will have to choose someone else - just like McGovern and Eagleton in 1972.

Imagine Gov. Palin sitting across a negotiating table from Vladimir Putin, and you will immediately realize that she has no business whatsoever being second in line to the Presidency. I cannot imagine a less appropriate choice - other than Paris Hilton.

Re: Palin-Couric, part II (Scripting News)

She's like Bush squared. I went to a Grateful Dead concert at the raceway in Portland in 1979, a few days after he died. Lowell had produced the Dead's most recent album. Bobby Weir introduced one of the songs by saying, "We'd like to dedicate this next song to Lowell George. He was fun while he lasted."

Re: The lame duck ducks, redux (Scripting News)

Oh, what a terrible thing to have done to the Shrub. He didn't deserve it. All he did was illegally invade, and nearly destroy, their country, leading to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, and causing about 3 million of them to flee their own country. No, he definitely did not deserve to have two shoes thrown at him. What terrible disrespect. Those ungrateful Iraqis (the ones who are still there, and still alive) should have been throwing chocolates and flowers.

C'mon, Dave. The invasion, destruction, and occupation of Iraq is one of the worst crimes in history. And you're upset about the perpetrator of that crime having shoes thrown at him?

Re: The Technology Liberation Front » Archive » ID Checks are About Control, Not Security

Half of the high school seniors in this country have a fake picture ID. They use them to buy cigarettes and beer. You can get one anywhere. If high school students can manage it, then so can terrorists. Possession of a picture ID is therefore utterly meaningless and of no security value whatsoever.

Re: Is Microsoft trying to capture photography market?

"me will join a bunch of others"

Me wish you would learn some second-grade grammar.
