Re: Your friend's dilemma... AT&T customers who are eligible for an upgrade are able to purchase the iPhone 3G at the $199/$299 pricepoint. So I don't know why the AT&T reps would be telling your friend differently. It's the folks like me that are getting screwed the hardest: I signed up for AT&T in May in anticipation of the iPhone. So now because I've only been a customer for two months (and of course am not eligible for an upgrade), I had to pay the $200 premium for my iPhone. Making my pricepoints $399/$499. And like the Apple freak I am, I paid it. :/

Hmm I don't know that I'd say we're a "stone's throw" from Chicago. I'm from there and have made the 8-hour trip countless times since I've lived in Middle Tennessee, and it definitely does not feel close. Maybe "a boulder's roll" or something would be more accurate? Or, "WTF? Why didn't I just fly?"

Of course people in Antioch are pissed about losing Starwood. Now there's no reason for non-Antioch residents to venture in to Antioch at all. Unless they're looking for crack or to get their car stolen, I guess.

I would argue that my 80-mile roundtrip commute from Murfreesboro to West End (having to brave I-24 AND I-440 in both rush hours) rivals any commute horrors anyone in a larger city has to deal with.

Also, if you're not going at least 80 mph in the middle or left lane on I-24, you will get run over.

Hi, just a note: The Ren Fest is not in Murfreesboro, it's in Arrington (or Triune--is that part of Arrington now?). I live in Murfreesboro and it's about a 25-30 min. trip to the festival grounds for me if I take 96.
