I see a use for this in an assembly. You could drop the object into an assembly as an envelope if you needed to design something around the object or use it for a spatial reference.
It could also be handy to get information from something a customer may have built to use with your equipment in a plant. There are probably a lot ideas people will come up with to use this technology.

in Triple-play Tip for Measuring Circles and Arcs in SolidWorks on SolidSmack
I have used this option in the measure tool a lot! It is very handy by keeping me from using my calculator to find the distance since I would probably fat finger a number and mess up the calculation.
It is always a good thing to review the tools we use the most and be reminded of the options available for us to use to make our job simpler and easier.
Thanks for the review of the measure tool Josh!

in How to Make a Line Perpendicular to a Tangent in SolidWorks on SolidSmack
This would have saved me a lot of time several times had I know about it. Typically, I have the sketched the circle, then drawn the line and added all the relations to get it tangent. A nice tip that I will post on our companies internal forum. Keep of the great work on your blog!!!
