Most professional flippers got out of the game by 2005-06 (and the latter was pushing it). But there are always more suckers who think they have a can't-lose formula and think MB is pure gold. Many of these people probably made a bundle turning over remodels throughout the boom and thought themselves brilliant. No, you were surfing a big wave that washed away all your bad decisions. Check your spreadsheets, you lied to yourself then and you did it again on these losers.

OK, I'll say it, the price for the double lot is still 'preposterous.' The class of buyers for a double lot (needing to build on it) is hit just as hard by the recession and uncertainty as everyone else. And like Mookie was saying the other day - what, do you think these people don't care about price? That they got rich by throwing caution to the wind on multimillion dollar purchases? Nope. The fact is Poinsettia could have gotten 5MM or so had it been priced right to start. Then September and October happened. Face it, they blew it. Rent out the ranch house and try again in 10 years.

I stopped reading Krugman after a column last summer, "The Sliming of Graeme Frost," about the 12 year old boy that Reid and Pelosi used for a response to Bush's radio address about SCHIP. It was a meathead childish column. An adult would understand that Reid and Pelosi shouldn't have been using child like that and the boy's parents were equally irresponsible.


So I'm not surprised by whats happened to Krugman the last few months; he's an ass.

The report out of the Nebraska caucus about some woman carrying about Obama being a Muslim and terrorism and the other caucus goers standing up to her: "No More Hate." Wish those folks could address Pat Buchanan's snide sneers.


Hillary Clinton is no feminist. It seems to be off the table to comment on the nepotism and patriarchy implicit in her campaign and the simple fact that she's lived a life of extreme privilege for the past 35 years, a life of domestic servants and luxury. It used to be standard to ask candidates the price of a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk. I wonder what happened to that question.

Your post brought back memories. Glad I moved out of the dirty apple... yeck. The fare was $1.25 when I left. I started paying for the express bus to avoid the subways or I could bike to midtown from brooklyn. Either was better.

By the way, the subway is also NOISY. I started wearing earplugs - which as a side benefit, kept the crazies from buggin me.
