I know Donna, Corky, and Matt's brother Jeff. We went to church together for over 20 years. Friends of mine lived next door to the Axelsons in Cupertino CA. Matt was a young man who wanted to honor his country and serve the cause of freedom. Nothing more, nothing less. He was a son, a brother, and a husband. The film (and book) depicts the sacrifices that brave men and women make every day so that we can enjoy our freedoms. Calling the film jingoistic or too violent is simply absurd. It was a necessary look into the hell that our Special Forces went through on that mountainside. What exactly does the reviewer think a firefight consists of? Bullets fly, people get injured and die. It isn't pretty. At the very least, Peter Berg didn't sensationalize anything or romanticize the role of a soldier. That would warrant criticism. As depicted, however, the film was as unbiased as possible. The audience applauded, twice, but nobody cheered during our screening. Most left in quiet contemplation as, I believe, they tried to grapple with the courage they had seen portrayed by a few brave men.

Re: Burger King renamed Fries King

It's cheaper than billboards, I suppose, but it's still a very labor intensive & expensive way to get a message out while risking customer confusion about what your brand stands for.

Re: Why Apple’s iPhone 5C Case Is Pure Genius

My teenage daughter absolutely loved the colors. She wants blue. For the rest of us, there's white, thankfully.

Re: Why Apple’s iPhone 5C Case Is Pure Genius

I see a market for color-coded films to cover up the typography on the back of the phone.

Re: Glenn Beck explains anti-war stance on Syria; why involvement is ‘suicidal’

My concern is this: What if Iran wants us to attack their ally so that they can draw us into a war. The chemical weapons attack may have been a ploy. And if so, we are being played. Regardless, without strong international support for any action, we risk getting drawn into a protracted situation that could end in disaster here and abroad. There are other ways to deal with Syria and Obama's "plan" doesn't seem like the best option to me.

Re: The Only Way HP, Dell and RIM Can Survive

HP + Dell + RIM. That's absurd.

Re: Production Chevy Volt Unveiled

GM never promised a pure electric with the Volt. even as originally shown in concept form, it has used a hybrid powerplant. the big difference between it and a Prius is that the Volt's gas engine will recharge the batteries vs. how current hybrids work by using the gas engine to propel the car. i agree that the "toned down" look is a bit disappointing and derivative of the Prius and upcoming Honda hybrid. Nevertheless, it is a huge step forward to be able to own and operate a car that will go 40 miles without requiring a drop of fuel. that alone makes the Volt interesting.

Re: Whoa! - Blog - Jeff Kohler the Option Addict | Stock and Options Trading

i've been taking trading a bit easy during the past few weeks - work commitments.

however, i will echo the comments about Disqus.
