Many cable networks are opposed because their less popular channels get subsidized by the more popular ones. The packaging also serves to introduce new channels to people who might never subscribe because they wouldn't have heard of them.

I definitely love the idea, and with all the video content online we're gonna be in a de facto a la carte world soon anyway. Hopefully sooner rather than later

Re: President Obama Speaking at Fort Hood Memorial

Hey Monie, thanks for sharing your personal connection to these tragic headlines. Much respect to you and your husband. I know politicians don't relish giving these speeches, and cynics will say it's just part of the job for them, but I was really touched by this line from the Biden speech:

"They are all of our sons, and they are all of our brothers."

Re: Responding To The Progressive Obama Haters Not Quite One Year Out

I'm late on this one, but not only did candidate obama never promise single payer, he explicitly said the following (paraphrased): "If we could start from scratch, I'd be for a single payer system, but we are decades beyond our ability to implement such a thing."

The candidate and the president have been consistent on promoting competition, controlling costs, de-coupling insurance from employment and a few other key values, but never ever single payer.

Re: Responding To The Progressive Obama Haters Not Quite One Year Out

still working on the font size. sorry for the delay

Re: *Note To JJP: Won’t Back Down!

BTW Jack, I will not be monitoring your site; it is what you and Jill and the rest of your team need to accept responsibility in maintaining a balance. I am pretty young, but I remember the treatment that previous administrations have gotten and it doesn't compare.

We know that there are other external forces and the media will hold Obama to an impossibly higher standard just to see him fail. JJP was suppose to be an escape from that.

Thanks again for acknowledging our opinions.

Re: *Note To JJP: Won’t Back Down!

Baratunde, I appreciate your willingness to accept responsibility for your role.

Re: *Note To JJP: Won’t Back Down!

Baratunde...thanks for Seeing US!

Your honesty was refreshing.

Re: *Note To JJP: Won’t Back Down!

There is a lot of truth to your analysis and of course it hurts my ego to read the things said here, but that goes with the territory, and it's good to hear it. We do take the criticism seriously. Community trust is difficult to earn, easy to lose and harder to regain. I take responsibility for much of what you've called out. My own participation at JJP dropped off significantly beginning in the summer due to some extreme personal circumstances from which I haven't fully recovered. I know that has had an effect on the site, so I can see a lot of what you're talking about.

Of course, I don't agree with everything said here or how it's been said, but my purpose here isn't to get defensive. It's really to acknowledge the situation, and let you know that "we see you" as well. I'm not sure how much more back and forth we'll have via these comments, or if we'll just ask you to monitor the site over the coming months. Either way, thanks for holding US accountable.

BTW, nice blog design :)

Sincerely & peace,
- Scattered Jack

Re: House of Representatives Passes Healthcare Reform Bill

Artur wants to govern the good state of 'Bama.

But in all honesty, 'Bama's probably ready for a black governor, than, say, Mississippi.... <<<ducks for cover>>>

Re: House of Representatives Passes Healthcare Reform Bill

Baratunde: It's the 'merikan thang ta do!???? :>)

Re: House of Representatives Passes Healthcare Reform Bill

Baratunde: U AIN'T NEVA LIED!! :>)

APPRECIATIN' me some RIKYRAH!! :>)

Re: House of Representatives Passes Healthcare Reform Bill

they're still coming!!
