Just glancing through the schedule I noticed a lot of games that we are very capable of winning. Optimistically, I think at least 17 of these games are winnable. Call me crazy or out of touch with reality, but I think it's a possibility. I also counted the two Illinois games for spite.

I wondered that, too. I'm hoping they're backing off because of an extreme level of interest in Indiana. That's just being optimistic though.

haha Marco did give us one unforgettable night, though. 36 points on the nation's returning Defensive Player of the Year? Absolutely. A dunk over Greg Paulus to take the lead, which resulted in the perforation of my ear drums? You got it. So much hope for the rest of a season that when we all finally came back down to Earth we realized that the team was basically average-to-slightly-above it was as heartbreaking as any time we had ever endured in our lives? You'd better believe it.

I think it's perfect. You could put together crazy lists of all the stuff that Hoosier fans love. Detailed reporting on it all, and before you know ITH becomes THE resource website for anyone who doesn't know or wants to know more about Indiana University basketball. Think of the possibilities. You could turn this website from an outstanding blog to the hottest spot for all things Hoosier basketball.

We should put a list together of the most loved players in IU history. You know, the guys that weren't All-Americans but got the biggest ovations every year at Hoosier Hysteria and stuff. A lot of names come to mind here because there's so many legends like that who now make up what is Indiana basketball lore.

I believe most IU fans will take the entire history of IU into account anyways. I was born in '86 but I was raised better than to exclude some of the old-timers from this list.

I don't mean to be a jerk here...but Kobe Bryant is one of the best defenders in the NBA.

They call Legion "Kobe" because he dominates their pick-up games and practices. But that only says that nobody on the Illini squad is capable of defending a mediocre guard like Legion.

I'm really glad Coach Senderoff came forth and at least admitted his part in some of this. If you need a reminder of how an assistant can be black-balled by head coaches for going against his head coach, look at Bruce Pearl while he was an assistant at Illinois. He turned his coach in and had to coach at USI for like 8 years.

We aren't far better off without him at all, really. Jordan Crawford is a 4-year college player, he wasn't Eric Gordon. You can't expect him to be perfect in his first year. I hope Indiana let's him go wherever he wants. He came to our school to play for a good school, a seemingly good coach at the time, to get his education I guess, and to have a good college basketball experience. He got robbed on two of those. I don't think him being on Kentucky will matter anyways because they have a lot of talent coming in and he may never seen the floor while he's there.

Does anyone know how Devan Dumes is at a point guard? I know he can shoot it, but what about his abilities as a floor general? Kevin if you haven't seen the video yet, check out YouTube "MidStateHoops.com Presents Verdell Jones III-Jerryd Bayless." It's amazing to see the variety of ways that VJ3 can score. I like Nick Williams and Tom Pritchard at the 3 and 4, too. What about Tijan Jobe? What does anyone know about him other than that he is huge?

Guys, I am usually overly-pessimistic when I comment on here but I decided to take a new route. I may be going out on a limb here, but if these kids this year come to Indiana, work hard, and respect the program and the game..then they might be one of the most loved Indiana teams of all time. Everything this team does is going to be an accomplishment in itself. If they beat a good non-conference opponent like Wake Forest or Kentucky. If they beat any decent Big Ten team. Nobody is going to expect our team to win this year and maybe that is a good thing.

The guys we have coming in are no slouches on offense. Defensively I have no idea because you just don't see many defensive mixtapes floating around. I've seen Verdell Jones go toe-to-toe with some of the best guards in the country and put up 25+ points. Nick Williams was a hell of a scorer at LeFlore High School (albeit he had Demarcus Cousins to take some attention away from him). We all have known for awhile that Matt Roth is deadly from downtown. Devan Dumes is a great shooter, too. Tom Pritchard, although kind of undersized, can score on the block in bunches, too.

My point is, we may be okay. We have to keep in mind that we aren't building a program overnight. We're building from the ground up with decent basketball players, and hopefully even better young men. If this team can start to put the wheels of change into motion, then they may go down in the annals of IU Basketball history with the greats like 76, 81, and 87.

I completely agree. Lance Stemler, Mike White, and Jamarcus Ellis dominated at the JC level. They really weren't capable of doing too much at the D1 level. I don't really like us recruiting JC players just because there are so many unknowns. The competition is bad and their numbers are probably inflated a little. Also, it's hard to evaluate someone when they are playing against bad competition.

I dunno if this kid is one of the guys that Crean said he was going to recruit or not. You remember? The kids who know why we wear the candy-striped pants, and so forth. I understand that emotions run high in basketball, but that's exactly where you separate a good player from a bad player. Mental toughness is really underrated in today's game. If someone gets under your skin that much, someone half your size, and you elbow them in the jaw as you walk off, then you're not going to be able to take what the rest of the Big Ten is going to give you. Jamelle Cornley was talking trash to DJ White the entire Penn State game last year, yet you didn't see DJ walk up to him and throw him a left hook.

You don't know whether or not Eli was purposely leading anyone on. You can make that claim, but it would be made unfairly. Just because Tom Crean suspects it might be true doesn't make it true.

I never said Ray Jr was the best player in the state, but he is a very good player and it's going to be difficult to land one of his caliber.

McGee might be a better player through Crean's coaching or he might be a complete bust. My money's on the latter.

He does need bodies to fill the void left by the players he had to dismiss, but I'm still not overly excited about the ones he did recruit. I never said he should be out recruiting a top ten class. I should probably be fine with what he's recruited though because Top 10 classes usually jump to the NBA pretty early. You know what, I wish to retract my previous statement. I am fine with the class we have now for the time being.

Hearsay is all it is. Eli shouldn't have ended up at Indiana anyways, considering nobody really wanted him after he hit that referee in California. Orchestrated or not he has the right to do whatever he wants with his career. He could have been a good player at IU, but he isn't going to be because he opted to leave.

As far as finding better players to fill Ray Jr.'s shoes, I doubt it. He's a solid player who will be ranked very high in many of the recruiting services' annual rankings.

McGee should transfer to save us all the pain of watching him next year. Has everyone forgotten the windmill he bricked at the end of the game against Michigan? He didn't even brick it. He got hung, didn't even get it over the top of the rim.

And I'm not very enthused about this crop of recruits either. Everyone needs to buckle in because these next few years could be really bumpy.

I don't know if this will actually develop into anything, but Nick Williams plays on the same team as Demarcus Cousins. I know he has already given a verbal to UAB, but he had some kind of interest in Indiana at one point (even though it was when we had Mike Davis running things). Maybe having his former teammate in Bloomington will induce him to re-evaluate his options and come to the Hall for at least a year.

Guards? Yeah they have guards, but two of the best bigs in the 2008 class are also going there. We don't have anything in the post at all, except for Kyle Taber and DeAndre Thomas. And let's be real, neither of them are game changers.

Wow...Wake? I don't like that at all. I mean I like that our schools are playing each other, but matchup-wise they have the advantage.
