in ESPN and Setanta To Team Up To Beat Fox? on EPL Talk
I feel like I'm the only one who wants to see this happen. I've said it for years now, this is the best thing that could happen to soccer in this country so who cares if we have to deal with ESPN's BS.

ESPN can afford to show soccer on ESPN and ESPN2 most weekends. All they show early in the morning is SportsCenter anyway. Before Sunday NFL Countdown they could show the two early games on Sunday and (while not ideal) tape delay the late game to start at 1est/10pst after NFL Countdown.

Saturdays would be trickier though, during college football season. It would most likely be relegated to ESPN2 or another channel in the fall but moved to fill that void after the season.

Besides, where are all these fears about ESPN ruining the game coming from. Did we not enjoy their coverage of the Euros? There's obviously someone behind the scenes steering the ship properly.

in Why Chelsea Needs to Move to Battersea Power Station on EPL Talk
Isn't there some kind of deal where the supporters club owns the name Chelsea and if they ever moved from Stamford Bridge the club couldn't keep the name Chelsea?

in ESPN Moves a Step Closer To Premier League TV Rights on EPL Talk
You mean WHEN ESPN wins the rights to the Premier League. It's just a matter of time before ESPN does this and if they have a partnership with Setanta, but I don't think FSC would be left out in the cold like that. However, I would imagine FSC would be getting a lot of West Brom vs Bolton games and rarely getting a big four team.

It's such a great move for ESPN to do this and would only need to sub license the games on Saturdays during the college football season. Have you seen what they show on a Sunday morning after countdown? Bowling? Pool? With a big Sunday schedule they could fill out their Sunday programming quite well with some tape delayed games.

in Why Isn’t Setanta Sports Available In Widescreen Format? on EPL Talk
Another thing they could is to show the game squished. While it's not appeasing to the eye, cramming a 16x9 image into a 4x3 would probably be their best bet. For users who have a 4x3 screen, it would look weird but they would get the entire image. Also, most likely, a good portion of the country (and the Setanta subscribers) own 16x9 televisions which has the option of unstretching the image and show it in its proper aspect ratio.

in Why Sky Sports News Sucks on EPL Talk
True, ESPN does not focus much Olympic coverage on the Olympics on Sportscenter but that is mostly because, people tune in for the highlights of regular sports. If you want Olympics, you go to NBC which is the official broadcaster.

ESPN is covering the Olympics from every angle, even if they don't give it a whole segment on on SC. If you watch OTL and shows like that, they have stories about it. Their coverage on ESPN.com is massive and they have reporters in the field who report stories on demand online. If there is a big enough story to talk about, they will and they will do it on Sportscenter.

Sky Sports, on the other hand, has proven time and time again they don't do that. I remember for the Euros they had a couple guys on site and they were spent trying to get interviews with Ronaldo and Scolari because one was leaving England and the other was coming to.
