there is def lots of opp in building something like this.. in the non-election season it could also be leveraged to connect people locally with specific contact info for elected officials to better voice their opinions, needs or frustrations... i know this type of service would be very helpful for me

This is a good point, a friend of mine in college was very close to creating something like this- and it seemed like a great idea at the time. This post prompted me to do a little diggingI did find http://www.vote-smart.org/
- has comprehensive list of candidates but light use of mixed media (no video), very poor design
clearly has not caught on... about as web 1.0 as it gets

i would echo your post completely... its shameful but true... our country/ gov is structured such that wars bring companies like sarco much more profits than helping those with disabilities... and becomes a vicious circle
