in Rethinking the Office - Dutch Design (Plus: Pics of My Home Office) on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
I was on the train in Stockholm last year and struck up a conversation with a chap from British Telecom who like me was in town for a convention.

Guess what? BT in 2007 had 80,000 workers but only 60,000 desks! A employee goes into an office wherever he may be that day, picks an empty desk plugs in his laptop and logs into the IP phone which is already there. Instant office...

MySQL was sold for $1B a few months ago. Guess what #2? They had 400 employees but NO office! You can't beat that can you??

So ROWE seems to be more common in Europe, But working anywhere can lead to working always... and that is where Tim and the 4HWW come in. Thank you Tim!

Great idea, but I think it will be hard building a brand on blogtv

too much noise around there.

You can use their technology, but you need a separate site

Interesting post. Though how you call this a "highlight of your life"....makes me wonder if you really mean that?

I was about to ask, why didn't Hictu do this themselves.. but you already asked the question yourself!

in VoIP in 2008 will be integrated and web-based on LucaFiligheddu.com
Luca,
I hope this is the year that we will see easy to use application generators for VoIP.
Copy & Paste building blocks that enable even a technical ignoramus like me to build an application and integrate it into my web site....

in Facebook Flyers sucks? on LucaFiligheddu.com
I think it has more to do with that they are still not committed to an open platform. However they will have to make that decision if they want to grow the business in the long term.

They have a lot to learn from Google in my opinion!

in Seesmic vs. Hictu: a lesson in bootstrapping on Scobleizer
"Also note that he moved to San Francisco to start his company. Why did he do that? Well, because most of the top journalists and tech bloggers are within an hour of San Francisco. So are tons of the world’s top developers and marketers and business people"

At the end of the day it is all HYPE. Someone (I do not remember who) made a remark at the last Etel Conference "there 200 million cell phones in the USA, and 2 billion worldwide - I am going after the 2 billion"

Robert - no offence, but you and many bloggers live in a bubble where you write about each other. Sometimes forgetting there is a real world out there.
250 million in the USA alone, how many use these services that you write about?
In that direction, I do agree with you on the point of building on top of existing services - that is the way to go!

in Free Calls Time: Jajah on LucaFiligheddu.com
lets think - I want to make a call, I go into my home office 2. I turn on my computer 3. wait 3 minutes until it boots up 4. open my browser
5. go to Jajah web site 6. log in 7. type in the numbers I want to call.
8. just before I press on the screen, a call comes into my phone, so I have to wait 9. I finish the other call and press on jajah to make a call
10. The phones are ringing! But alas…I reach my brothers voicemail :-)

Now with a 1buttontowifi solution http://flatplanetphone.com/wordpress/?p=234,

1. I pick up the phone
2. press on 9 to get a dial tone
3. dial my call
done

The only disadvantage of the 1buttontowifi solution is their prices, but there nothing to stop me from supplying the same solution at a much better price!
