in Social Media for Business: The Dos & Don’ts of Sharing on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Right on the money, thanks for this post! I find sometimes that people are different in person than their "online persona" and it's always a bummer - and a red flag. We do business with people, not products. Thanks for sharing this ideal perspective. @bizcoachdeb

I am sooo with you on this, John. Thanks for a terrific post and reminder that when you create value for your customer and couple it with different options, price points and offers, you're giving the customer every possibility to do business with you. Couple that with integrity and great customer service, the sky's the limit!

in How To Be The Social Media Champion At Your Office on Social Media Explorer
Great ideas and the perfect opportunity for companies to create "brown bag" sessions so everyone's on the same page. When people understand the purpose, they're more likely to champion for you, so it's not such an uphill climb.

in Gary Vaynerchuk - A reaction to Howard Sterns thought on Social... on Gary Vaynerchuk
Stern's laughable sometimes, but he knows his own target and has it pretty much wrapped up, exploiting every possible angle of the human experience imaginable. The fact that he's bagging on SM is just a testament to him knowing his medium, not the others that exist around him. Trust me, if his pay-per-listen audience suddenly went the way of SM, he'd be there.

in A Cookie Legacy Bites the Dust on BizCoachDeb's Blog
Share the story, I think the more people that finally hear about it, the better. What was very odd this past weekend is I was in the Bay Area, less than an hour from the Oakland-based Mother's cookie production plant. People I told were flabbergasted at the news, and these are informed people, who read print and online media regularly. My hope is some company swoops in and saves the day.

in CPM’s, CPC’s: Are social ads really a good idea? on Copy Diva
It's just a personal preference, but I don't like/use social ads, I'm not interested in making my site some kind of cheesy billboard. (you know you've seen 'em) I'm sure some have great success with it, but it's not my cup of tea.

in Tourism Bureaus and Bloggers on Chris Brogan
Cool post and my response to the question is: the tourism agencies need a better understanding of the blogging model on the whole. I'm sure if most knew that a fun read like this would be produced about their fair city and it's offerings, they'd leap at the chance to create that kind of relationship.
My suggestion would be to start from the end of the organizers of an event; reach out to the tourism agencies in the area and let them know of your event and ask them to put together an itinerary or map of the coolest hotspots, food, historical sites (maybe even offbeat ones) so your guests can really get a flavor of things. Let them know that you're people will be doing writeups and you'd love to mention them. Mutual good all the way around.
Again, great post,
Deb
