Given the timing, Gary Harris will forever be Crean's biggest miss in my mind. Swap him for Hollowell and Crean's still our coach, along with banner 6 hanging from the rafters.

How the schools choose to use the revenue generated by high profile sports is up to them. I, along with others, happen to think some of that should be given back to the ones doing the heavy lifting (on top of their full ride). All things are not created equal. Why a swimmer and RJ get the same "compensation" is beyond me when there is such a discrepancy in how these lower profile, unprofitable sports are consumed.

The IU Athletic Department is in the black, which is absolutely incredible when you consider how little revenue is generated by football in comparison to other schools.

There are mountains of cash. Have you seen the latest TV rights deals? Billions of dollars are trading hands every year.

There's a reason why Delaney is getting paid what he is and a guy like Arch can jump into being paid as a Top 10 coach.

The search firm did not identify Arch. They are used as a go-between to set up meetings. Coaches can fly in and out of Atlanta (where the firm is located), without disturbance because it is such a highly trafficked airport.

Remember the rumors of Billy Donovan flying in and out of B-town? The search firm eliminates the unsubstantiated noise.

That's not what any of us (those advocating on behalf of players) is suggesting.

What you're suggesting is obviously silly. After all, it's revenue from high level sports (basketball and football) that funds swimming, track, soccer, crew, etc. to compete and receive the same scholarship.

It's the NCAA and its members who should be footing the bill.

Not sure if you're aware, but Gatorade recently spent mucho dinero to sponsor the D-League. It'll officially be The NBA Gatorade League, or G-League for short. Salaries will be increasing. More teams like the Pacers' affiliation with the Mad Ants will ensure, meaning a legit farm system.

I actually don't know that TB regressed as much as he no longer benefited from having NBA quality talent around him. Yogi and Troy made life very easy. Teams could not afford to double TB with those two penetrating or spacing the floor. Last season he got the Vonleh treatment and was ill prepared to deal with it.

TB did hit 38% from 3 over the course of the season. That is a huge weapon in the pros.

It's the same offense we've been running with quality Big Ten talent since 2011-12. Right now it's an execution and talent issue. Jordy, Vic, Cody and Wat got to the free throw line plenty.

So do Yogi, Troy and co last season.

Two mobile bigs (Jeffries and Newton) vs. two plodding bigs (TB and DD).

Davis had a deeper front line overall: JJ, Odle, Newton and Leach.

Sure would be nice if Crean could add OG and Hartman back into the group with TB, DD and Morgan. Instead he was forced to play McFly and McRoberts far more minutes than any of us imagined at the start of the season.

Very good point on JBJ. Forgot about Whitehead and honestly, glad he passed.

Some members on the paid forum also brought up McIntosh recently, so that's partly why I'm on the soap box here. Obviously not one of us cared last season when we absolutely smoked Northwestern at home with McIntosh getting bottled up by Yogi and RJ. Now that he had a great game of his own in the friendly confines of Evanston (and a very solid season overall) mixed with our struggling PG play, suddenly we're all playing the "what if" game.

I'll be rooting for him in the NCAA tournament though.

This McIntosh thing is one of the more overrated storylines in my opinion.

Based on dates I've seen:
1) McIntosh committed on 9/9/2013.

2) RJ committed on 9/20/2013

3) JBJ had decommited but was still considering us and UK.

Crean recruited a monster class for 2013 that, presumably, was expected to carry into 2014-15.

As you say, hindsight is 20/20, but the only reason we signed Hoetzel, Priller and April (let's add Holt to the list) is because of the mass exodus from the Movement (Jeremy/Jurkin) and Disaster classes (Fisher, Vonleh, Stan). Etherington transferred too. In other words, those players of that "caliber" were available due to the timing (Hoetzel excluded).

Having said all that, the only way Crean lands McIntosh is by commiting a recruiting violation akin to Trey Lyles and UK (went unpunished that he visited unofficially despite his IU verbal).

I'm as frustrated as anyone at Crean, but he made the right choice at the time.

It's a tough conundrum for athletes. The NCAA offers visibility and marketability to NBA scouts and fans like us.

There's a 5-star kid, Terrance Ferguson, who decommited from Arizona, deciding instead to play in Australia. He's getting paid and even signed an endorsement deal with Under Armour.

Curious to see where he gets drafted. It's the same route as current NBA players like Jennings and Mudiaye. The more successful case studies, the more likely other high level players bypass college. That weakens the NCAA product and forces them to make institutional changes.

Unfortunately a lot of GMs and scout just look at his measurables (i.e. his height or lack of).

Yogi is another undersized point guard proving once again, if you can play, you can play.

No one would dispute that Stevens is a better coach than Crean. But he's gone.

In a world of "what have you done for me lately", Butler hasn't been to the second weekend of the tournament since 2011 (as a runner-up, a great accomplishment).

They're having a solid season, no doubt. But knowing the amount of upsets every year, it's hardly a guarantee that they'll be a Sweet 16 team in March. Indiana has been the better program from 2011-12 thru 2015-16.

Again, our last banner in 1987 featured only one Hoosier bred player that had a meaningful impact: Steve Alford. He happened to be our best player and averaged 37 mpg, but the "team", the guys who made up the other 163 minutes of the game, were comprised of out-of-staters.

Malik Williams. 5-star headed to Louisville. Also heard plenty in the rumor mill of Crean backing off. If a guy wants to play for Pitino after everything that went down, good riddance.
