in Funny Facebook Photo on AllFacebook
Totally hilarious!! Made me laugh out loud (especially being British myself - loved the UK twist).

For more side-splitting laughs, I recently found this spoof site by David McCandless called Crackbook:

If you like Dave Barry, you'll love this guy! :)

in Social Technologies I Want on Chris Brogan
I want a daily project and activity management tool (platform, service, gizmo - whatever) that makes my life WAY easier.

Everything in one neat place, at-a-glance, user-friendly, intuitive, visual-noise free. Runs my day for me. ON my computer - not some teeny handheld device.

Can't get rememberthemilk.com, looked at backflip.com, use Outlook up the wazoo to no avail (sorry Merlin Mann, just can't get that Inbox to zero... grrr).

Got any suggestions??!! :)

in How to Stop That Facebook Addiction on AllFacebook
I find it interesting that society tends to label something as an addiction if we do "too much" of it... according to whom? I was wrangling with this very dilemma when my coach asked me how much joy I was experiencing on a scale of 1-10.

My response is that I'm always an 8, often 9-10 in my life overall. "So what's the problem?" he said!! Yeah, exactly! LOL. If other areas of life are suffering, granted the 'addiction' might need to be addressed.

The other week, I wrote a tongue-in-cheek guide: "Top Ten Signs You’re Addicted To Facebook"

in Is Being Naked on Facebook A Bad Idea? on AllFacebook
I have a process I go through with every Friend request, where I initiate or they do. Most of what I do is intuitively based and takes less than 60 seconds to do.

However, I've started documenting the process in a how-to guide to show other people. I believe there are certain signs to look for in terms of which people would make a good friend, and which might just take up a valuable seat in your 5,000-strong 'auditorium.' LOL.

Cheers,
Mari

in Facebook: Minimize Application Requests! on AllFacebook
There IS a way to turn off app requests... go to the notifications page (click on the down arrow next to "Inbox" & select "Notifications"), then check/uncheck the apps you want/don't want notices from. Easy as pie! ;)

in Facebook/Microsoft Plot Thickens on Marketing Pilgrim
The value is only going to go up at this rate. I can't remember the last time I was so excited about a website. :) Thing is, Facebook isn't just a 'site' - it's a powerful, dynamic, interactive tool *anyone* can utilize for myriad purposes… for me, it’s to demonstrate relationships are key, not time.

I've tried other networking sites, but FB is the mother lode. I don't know anywhere else I can start to build real relationships--at the click of a button--with highly successful internet marketers, authors, speakers, copywriters, actors, and singers I’ve admired for years.

in Poll: Did LinkedIn Lose Out to Facebook? on Marketing Pilgrim
Oooh, I can hardly believe LinkedIn is winning the poll at the time of this writing. LOL.

Facebook for *business* networking is MY platform of choice - hands down!!

I've been on LinkedIn for years, but only have a relatively small network compared to FB. In less than six weeks, I've grown my FB community to almost 300 quality contacts.

In fact, I just launched an introductory class to show others how to use FB for biz purposes... especially for those peeps who keep asking me if it's just like MySpace for adults. Hmmm.

in Facebook-Let Me See My Friends on Chris Brogan
Yeah, Chris!!! Bring it on – tagging friends, eh? Brilliant. Sheer genius.

I put this down to learning styles - I'm very visual, gotta SEE my stuff or it's out of sight (site!) out of mind.

I'd also like to see a way to categorize (tag) Groups. I know I'm underutilizing these puppies and don't really have an effective way to ramp it up, other than dedicating even more time to just trawling through all the minutia.

in Rock Your Stage on Chris Brogan
Right on, Chris! As the inimitable Infotainer, Joel Bauer, says, "Wrap the package" - he's referring to how we dress, show up, and act. It's the same with our blogs.

I'm also reminded of the Zen saying "How you do anything is how you do everything." (Often attributed to T. Harv Eker).

Who you are comes gently off the page (screen) and connects with me - I read your posts and I LIKE you. You're not trying to push, sell, convert or otherwise. It's like you're in conversation with your readers.

Same thing with a good stage presentation - good audience involvement always cuts it for me.

in Fix Your Facebook Profile Now on Chris Brogan
Excellent points you make, Chris. Halleluiah!! If someone's profile page takes too long to load due to a ton of frivolous apps with images etc... I'm afraid I have to *next* them.

I liked your point about the more natural profile pic too... mine is the prof headshot... I'm off to dig up something different. ;)

To give people a better sense of my interests/focus, I've joined a ton of different groups - they're more like some kind of identity badge than places with tons of interaction. (For more on this, see the group "Psychology of Facebook with Dr. BJ Fogg").

I also like to strategically pick books for the Books iRead app to show my interests... and, for the most part, my Status updates are strategic too.

Cheers,
Mari
