When I started blogging, I never thought this would happen! Although I have never met you in real life, you have read what I have been saying and thought it was good enough to share with your audience. I am honoured. I look forward to reading your blog.

in I Hate Ads - Google's new favicon on I Hate Ads
I give Google Marketing the halo effect. Everything they do is gold, so I am going to go with Wags and say it is part of a big branding change. Great Post!

in I Hate Ads - ANZ withdraws ads from The Footy Show on I Hate Ads
great point rick! they should of made a bigger show and dance out of it. I think the only problem here is that they are playing by different rules. if ANZ is going to take the high road there is no doubt that sammy newman would just take cheap shots at them, a little hard to battle

in I Hate Ads - Solving the need to create lots of separate accounts on I Hate Ads
“Sign up in 10 second” what a great idea. I think it addresses one of the main problems that people have with signing up too these things. Another great one was the fact that for alot of sites your user name is your email address. This saves me alot of the time when I dont know what silly username I would of created.

zac, where are you doing this talk?

A problem I wish someone would rectify, is that it isn't easy to keep up to date with comments on a blog that isn't yours.
I've just found your comment Jules, but we're already spoken about this a few days ago.

Great point about it drawing your eye to it. I had not thought about it that way before.
However Cinema advertising you dont really get much choice with? When you are in the cinema you dont really get up and leave when the ads come on?

No one's forcing you to go to the movies, and you can always come in 15 minutes late and skip most of the ads.

Ahh Rove that brings back memories, I remember before the days of youtube, digg and ettf.net when I used to watch television. Does he still do that what the? segment?
Sounds interesting maybe I will have to fire up the old tv on a sunday to have a watch of this so called behind the scenes exploits.

Haha unfortunately 'What The!?' has been left in the past... a few additions though with Dave Hughes, Carrie Bickmore, Ryan Shelton and Hamish & Andy now weekly cast members.
I also don't watch all that much TV these days... it's interesting that youth, traditionally one of TV's biggest audiences, is now probably one of the smallest (I might go searching for some hard data on that though...)

I think digital brands are really leading the way in terms of marketing. They just seem to understand what the user wants. Where AGL is just another example of old sales tactics that would of been all the rage 20 years ago.

Yeah, definitely. The interesting thing is that small digital brands like WordPress.com and Tumblr tend to be run by a few software engineers (who tend to do a great job at marketing), whereas a big brand like AGL probably has a whole team of marketers running around...
What I'm suggesting is basically an ad-supported version of AppleTV. Someone just needs to write the software to insert highly targeted ads into the TV shows as they're being downloaded/viewed. The hardware that would be necessary to make this happen is readily available (and quite affordable), and internet speeds, bandwidth and access means most people living in metropolitan areas would be able to access this service already. The only thing missing is the software/service provider.
