Yes ma'am! I have both of these on my runner up list. I love Anyone with Elton on the So Amazing tribute. And this is the Toni I miss.
Nice picks!

VERY poignant post. Top notch. Needs to be widely distributed. Thanks for sharing another view of this.
I hope we'll continue to have these kinds of important conversations long after all this foolishness has died down. When I say foolishness, I mean all the extra stuff surrounding this tragic occurence that no one would be talking about if it wasn't those two. Because it's happening right now. And will happen again to another woman before I press "post" on this comment.

There is no contest here because this is my all time favorite Luther song EVER. And that's saying a lot! Nice pick.

Happy Holidays Marvalus!
I was just listening to Brick House today. I almost got out the car and started strolling the imaginary catwalk. LOL! That will always be my JAM! That and Cry Together are indeed classics that you hear while folks is gathered playing cards and talking ish. Great choices.

Now this was a successful run. I liked Peep This and Unpredictable. Remember the buzz around Unpredictable? I'm not sure about his upcoming album thoough. He's in bad company.
Nice choice and Happy OSF!

in The10Spot: While You Were Here on Conversations With Marva
First, many thanks for yet another award from you! You spoil me :) And nice new digs. You're always changing things up around here!
I am so disgusted with humanity for that Walmart incident. And then just to walk over the guy while they are trying to revive him. Despicable. And then to hear that a pregnant woman miscarried. I mean, really.
In Liz Mundy's bio on Michelle, she talks about how they went through a really rough patch in their relationship but they got through it. I guess I look to that as a model, how to not give up in the darkest hours. How to fight for the relationship. I do hope that it stimulates more discourse and ACTION on the black love and relationship crisis (such as it were).
As for Jill, it's none of our business. And I know she would say as much. LOL! Not a choice I would make - which to clarify for those that aren't aware - to marry a man with 3 other kids by 3 baby mommas. But who cares what I think. As long as my tax dollars aren't paying for the crumbsnatcher!
I'm not even going to bother to write another post on these ignorant athletes getting mixed up in mess. *sucks teeth in disgust*

in You’re Fired! on [FUNG'KE] [BLAK] [CHIK]
I can't think of a person or two that needs to see this. I love your hustlin spirit. Many folks are missing that "gene."
I'm fortunate that my job is protected and secure. Only way I could get fired is "if I were to steal money or get caught screwing my mother in the lobby." Don't ask. Although I've had thoughts of leaving for professional reasons, even after only 9 months, I know I need to stay put in this economy.

in Old School Friday: A Tribute To Jazz! on Conversations With Marva
Your avatar may be going through some things. But at least she's looking fly!
I remember seeing Ray perform live at the Capital Jazz Fest some years ago. Nothing like it.
Surprisingly I wasn't that familiar with Moody's Mood For Love until a friend of mine chose it as her wedding some a few years back. Lovely song in its many versions!

That whole last paragraph - you just don't know how much it resonated with me. I'll just say we are ><
I am still trying to wait to hear more details on this but I have a VERY unsettled feeling about it. The thing is, I don't want that to be one more thing that Jennifer has to deal with. I mean how much could one person possibly take? I mean really. I know you're not supposed to question Him but I just don't know.

in Thursday’s Topic: Enabler on Conversations With Marva
POWERFUL post. So many things to comment on here.
It's just something about SOME mothers and their sons. I can't fully understand it because I don't have one. However, I can imagine that it is hard to look at something you brought from your womb and realize it has turned into something unrecognizable. I'm sure the first instinct is to blame yourself. Where did I go wrong? Is it because he didn't have a father in the home? What could I have done? And then that's when the excuses start.
I applaud you for not being an enabler and recognizing the patterns in your own family. Most women don't.
I want to write a post so bad about this whole situation but I am TRYING to wait until we find out what really happened. I was reading on another blog where TMZ has discovered evidence that Julia, Jason and either Julian's real father or the William (too lazy to look it up) were all arrested on drug charges a few years back. Nobody run with this because I don't know if it's true or not. In any event, there is more to this story and I would not doubt that William is involved somehow.

Yup, yup! I posted I'll Be There For You last time I did this OSF theme. This week I thought of reposting that and Marvin/Tami.
Then I thought of posting Elton John and Luther dueting on Anyone Who Had A Heart.
We were definitely on the same wavelength today soul sista! VERY nice picks. Happy OSF!

Yup yup missy! Scandalous and Adore are part of my mix over at the spot. I even managed to find the Scandalous vid for ya if you wanna take a peak. That song make me wanna do some thangs ;)
As you know, Adore was #2 on the SB Countdown. So you know it was on all of our lists. I swear I'm walking down the aisle to that. LOL!

in Take A Listen: Paper Trail by T.I. on Conversations With Marva
Instratin that you posted on this today because I heard him on the SHMS yesterday and initially I gave it the side eye. Why was Steve giving airtime to a criminal? I don't know if you were around when I did my Michael Vick rant on these celebs who are FORTUNATE enough to make it where so many can only dream of and they turn around and sh*t all over that blessing by getting involved in Negro nonsense. And the Black community embraces them. Anywho, I place TI in the same category. But as I listened to him speak on the SHMS, I see why Steve had him on and I want to believe that he has learned his lesson. I'm still mad at him though because like a lot of folks, there's something about him that I like and I'm disappointed in his actions.

Loving the new look! I need to give my place an overhaul as well.
I'm glad another female "gets" me. Whenever I talk about football, they look at me like I have two heads. Oh well, the guys love it!
I think the Pats might surprise everyone. Tom B is the Golden Boy though so it's big news. My boy looked GOOD. It's on and poppin Monday night baby!

*waving my MLK church fan* PREACH SISTA MARVALUS!
I just turned 31 and I'm just getting to the point where I'm realizing that these substitute lovers ain't quite getting it anymore. I have my days where I wonder if he'll show up. But meantime I'm working on knowing what to do and how to act when he gets here! How to appreciate him (for what he has and even what he may not have) and make sure he appreciates me in the same way.
It's troubling when women say they NEED a man in their life. No. I NEED water and air to live. Do I want one...a GOOD one. No doubt.
People can say what they want about Steve Harvey but he talks some sense and from what I can tell he's dead on about the way men think and why they do the things they do.

I'm not sure if I'm the Ms. V you're referring to but I am SO glad you're up on this! If you're buying tix on line, you better be all set up the SECOND they are released for sale. LOL! I have a bet going as to how long it will take for them to sell out. Some people have even talked about camping out. Lawdhamercy. I am anxiously awaiting the DC/Philly/Bmore dates and stocking away some chips. Those tix will be pricey but worth every penny!
