in The Will To Courage on Missio Dei
Only myself and God know what courage looks like for me and it's probably not going to be of any interest for a commercial for the general public. And I am not looking for recognition of my courage. It will be very personal and more rewarding than anything I will ever have seen on TV. We keep searching but we are getting more lost!

in Sadness vs. Depression on Missio Dei
For me, sadness is how I feel for the plight of others as they struggle through their lives with or without God in it.
I generally do not feel sad for myself but I do get depressed. I feel the that my depression comes when I lack hope. That lack of hope is directly related to my level of faith in as much as I am trusting my Father! I am somewhere between the chasm of "O ye of little faith" and the "Mustard Seed". I want to move my mountain everyday I know with faith it is possible. I feel sad for the people around me that do not recognize their mountain and I get depressed when I feel mine is immovable. This is not today!

in A One Year Reflection on Missio Dei
I've had few glasses of wine so I thought I'd post this.

Some say love it is a river
that drowns the tender reed
Some say love it is a razer
that leaves your soul to blead

Some say love it is a hunger
an endless aching need
I say love it is a flower
and you it's only seed

It's the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance
It's the dream afraid of wakingthat never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken
who cannot seem to give
and the soul afraid of dyingthat never learns to live

When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been too long
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winterfar beneath the bitter snows
lies the seed
that with the sun's love
in the spring
becomes the rose

in A Disclaimer on Missio Dei
Jonathan, I have gotten to know you very well over the last year and a half and we have had some great "conversations". Through God, You have helped me through many things and I just want to say thank you for helping me to understand better my relationship with my Heavenly Father!

The good news is that sometimes good "conversations" will eventually lead to great "resolutions". Amen!

I do have one question. If the head of the church in Ephesus and the head of the church in Pergamum got together for a beer and they agreed to share the same beer, would they order a "Black & Tan"?

I will leave you with this:

In dreams begin
Responsibilities
And I can love
And I can love
And I know that the tide is turning 'round
So don't let the bastards grind you down

Love you brother

Who ever pulls the man out of the hole, it was by the Grace of God that it happened at all. And the man in the hole needs to realize that he is even in a hole to be helped out of.

Obviously he has no idea what was in a Black and Tan and might need to become more interdependant with his alcholic beverage choices.

in Deconstructing Doctrine on Missio Dei
I did not mean it as a trick question. Thank you for the verses. I really feel God is revealing to me not to be afraid of the Word. I might be guilty of looking for "The Truth" in other arenas. I am aware of other truths but I am searching after the most important "Truth". And I need to reconcile that!

in Deconstructing Doctrine on Missio Dei
Jonathan, I really believe that I am practicing and trying not to have my own interpretation of what is being revealed through the Holy Spirit but that leaves a void in which plenty of people are ready to offer me there interpretation. Aaaagh

My initial reaction is to ask the question:If we all follow are own interpretation or deconstruct the doctrine would that not lead us into division which would in turn lead us down a path where the enemy could take advantage of us

Does there need to be a end to the means in regards to generative conversation? And doesn't mean that, if in conversation, one will dominate the other or can both walk away feeling that they listened as much or equally as they were able to talk?

One other thing, 'Fix You' has a 4 part harmony. A modern day song with the whole band singing is very cool.

in Losing Someone You Can’t Replace on Missio Dei
Jonathan,

Well said brother!

I love secular music because so much of it is people screaming for relationship with God but they just can't make that connection. We end up making relationships with each other and that does not always go so well. The new song by George Michael is a good example. Here ar some lyrics:

Praying For Time

The rich declare themselves poor
And most of us are not sure
If we have too much
But well take our chances
Because God stopped keeping score
I guess somewhere along the way
He must have let us all out to play
Turned his back and all gods children
Crept out the back door

And its hard to love,
Theres so much to hate
Hanging on to hope
When there is no hope to speak of
And the wounded skies above
Say its much too late
Well maybe we should all be
Praying for time

I saw him sing this on American Idol and he looked so sad. Things had not quite worked out the way he thought and it sounds like he turned his back on God. Man, I have known that feeling. Turn around and recieve Him
