in Ken Evoy Attacks Blogging & WordPress on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
How do blogs compare to Theme-Based Content Sites, performance-wise in the short-and-long terms?

Define blogging, please? Personally this smells like linkbait all the way to up here in the snowcovered northern parts of Norway, and the above quote "reveals" it all to well. Any given topical blog out there is a "Theme-Based Content Site". "Blogging" and all that it has become in the past (two, I think I'd say) years is simply a certain way to present content to your visitors. And that certain way of presenting it is being re(de)fined by the hour.

And here I was thinking that we were past the days when people bought in to the hype that blogs equal diaries.

Not that I personally putting some focus on it though, because I don't think that the traditional WordPress/blog/diary way of presenting content, which results in perfectly fine and still relevant content getting next to no attention, is optimal.

In all honesty though, you can pretty much put your content on display whichever way you wish with WordPress.

And that's about all the incoherent rambling I have in me right now. Have a nice day ;)

Andy Beard Lars to setup Wordpress as a CMS, plus add in all the additional backend tools you are still looking at a larger first investment than the $300 SBI charges.

WordPress can do everything and more but that doesn't make it the right choice for every individual, and even if you go the WordPress route you can still benefit a huge amount from all the free material and tools that SiteBuildIt provide.

Lots of people also claimed that my original "Blogs Suck" post was just linkbait, but what percentage of the people who read it improved their traffic funnel to the extent that they could send PPC traffic to their blog and make a profit from it?

in SocialSpark.com Preview – PayPerPost Goes Googley? on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
It looks like they are capitalizing on the success of PayPerPost to create something that potentially can become the next big thing in online ad brokering. A few years ago large brokers like Burst Media, Casale and similar ruled by filling your adspots of choice with generic ads. The AdSense came in and took over for a while, before being challenged by "paid posts", which was never going to be a lasting model (imo). (That whole paragraph is just a brief generalization, so don't jump on me for it!)

This might be the next big thing. It's somewhat hard to get a good impression of it without actually trying it, but I hope they will incorporate a way for publishers to sell their different adspots as well (such as for instance 125x125 ads), completely with stats. That might finally teach advertisers that CTR actually depends on the ads they decide to put up as well, and not just the publisher ;)

I'm excited, can't wait to give it a try!

Andy Beard Lars-Christian, I was actually hoping for some placement advertising included as well, but that is probably not a major tweak, and easy to discuss and keep 100% ;)

in Google Toolbar PageRank Fluctuations (Round 4) on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
None of the tools I've been using to check PageRank are working at the moment, which is somewhat weird. I've seen some datacenters unreachable before, but never experienced that none of them are giving out any results.

Smells like something big is cooking - Or at least it's fun to speculate about it ;)

No problem Vlad! Been reading your blog for a while, and I thought this was a nice time to post my first comment, since I actually had something to add to the conversation.

It should be "My wife and I" - English isn't my first language, but I believe that's the correct way to build the sentence ;)

And link to pornographic websites? Ha, surefire way of showing Google that your authoritah(!) should be respected!

I can add another as well, just don't update the last month before the PR update, and preferably don't garner any new inbound links either. It will take you from zero to hero (or at least PR4) - That's what happened with my own blog at least ;)

in Real or Fake PageRank Update In Progress (round 3) on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
Haha, YouTube seems to get a PR 3 now, and my lousy old blog now has 4 on most of the DC's (which it has never been before). Incidentally, the same DC's that are still showing YouTube as an 8, are still showing my blog as a 1.

I wonder what the heck they are up to! Oh how they would benefit from some transparency at this point.

in My Top 5 Favourite WordPress Blogging Tools on TheGeoffRe(y)port
Hey Geoff, I found this article through the Problogger Group Writing Project, and I thought it was interesting to see your take on the most useful blogging tools, and it is very relevant to what I write about over at Bloggst, so I linked to you in my entry as well (my comment is linked to it).

I agree on many of your tools, and I even wrote a few entries over at Bloggst about FeedBurner and Analytics - Feel free to check them out if you wish. You should find them without too much trouble ;)

Anyways, I like your blog so far, and I'll be following you in the future. Added you to my reader!

in Google Needs Help Finding Paid Links on Webomatica
It's obviously an attempt from Google to seperate sponsored links inside content from regular links. What I don't get is why Google is having such a hard time discovering them, especially since most programs and opportunities require full disclosure.

in Give Out Some Link Love and Remove NoFollow on Instigator Blog
I've been an avid follower of the dofollow "campaign" ever since my eyes were opened to what nofollow actually is, and it's great to see that more and more bloggers are standing up against it.
