in I hate Melissa Ferrick. on i've never heard of you.
I'm with you BUT is it possible that you might actually like Melissa Ferrick, the musician not Melissa Ferrick the lesbian? I'm a lesbian. I love Ferrick. (I don't love the darn Indigo Girls, though Amy Ray looked really hot one time I saw her in a kilt skirt but that's another story.)
I don't love Ferrick because she's a lesbian or because I am. I love her because she can freaking play the guitar and her shows are fantastic. (I do sometimes wish there were fewer lesbians in attendance because a good number of them aren't there for her music, they're there because it's a gay girl thing.)

Wow. I cannot imagine what that felt like, to see her face on a poster and realize... wow.
Thanks for posting, KK. It doesn't matter if you're early or late, it just matters that you did something to try and make a difference for families.

I'm so impressed with the people behind the BlogHer Ad Network. They work hard to bring good ads and get good links into that "More from BlogHer" thing.
And, on BlogHer.com we've started adding some of those "More from BlogHer" links on the sidebar and I hope we'll be doing more of those types of things on the main site.
Good post, KK. Glad you joined.

Now hang on, I like Sharon's purple hair.
I don't, however, like any of the "talent" shows one little bit because the criticism is rarely constructive and often personal. I'm the sarcastic sort, with a wee bit of a mean streak (but you know that) and even I would not go half as far as these shows go. And as you've said, we're only seeing bits and pieces - the real problem, the real meanness is on the editing room floor.

As someone who has recently been exposed to the backend of Drupal on that blog I write for... I vote no to Drupal.

Not that there's anything wrong with buddy-hood, but it's nice to know that's not what this was. :-)
Thanks for the link and the nice words! (Pst I think this is my favorite of all of your templates!)

So. How was the Hyatt? Big rooms? Internet connection good? Staff friendly? Clean? Did you by chance notice the lobby and meeting room bathrooms - will there be enough for a zillion women, some of whom have TUMMY TROUBLES?
Glad dancergirl did so well with the big girls, that's a very good thing.

Ha, it's kind of amusing to me that your blog and my current blog were started at the same time, for similar reasons - we were both proving a point. Heh.
Glad you played - and glad I won't be the only one not drunk.

in What’s Your Ideal Pet? on odd time signatures
Ha I did take that quiz on May 19 at 11:55 am ET to be exact. My ideal pet is a fish. TW also took it, on May 19 at 11:37am and her ideal pet is a big dog. I guess I should feel lucky that we only got Elvis and not one of those huge dogs outside of Petsmart.
I am not feeling lucky. At all. F....!

in Balls in a Bowl on odd time signatures
Ha, this makes me wish extra hard that my grandmother was still alive. Ah the "What's this doing in HER house" posts I could make. Today's entry was suppose to be a grandma entry but Joseph's appearance changed that. Next week, I'll do it, unless the Virgin Mary makes an appearance in the catfood bowl or something.
Nice balls, I never get to say that anymore ya know. ;-)

Ha every now and then we get some catalog from a book collector type place and they always have a few "Alice" volumes to chooes from. There are several that I would love to own.
Alice is special, in any variation, but some of them are just amazing.

That's not weird - everyone has a singing bowl, don't they?
My darn children somehow remembered that "my drum" is really Christopher's drum that I was keeping safe for him til he was older. He's older now and seems interested in taking it back. Good luck at keeping Sticks' bowl safe for him!

in Love Ellen, but Tom is evil on odd time signatures
Oh good grief. People sell their souls for their jobs all of the time, I know this from personal experience. What would you have had Ellen do, publicly snub Tom Cruise and my poor misguided Katie? That's ridiculous. Ellen did her job, just like you and I do our jobs. Just like good ole Tom did his job.
Here's a question for you, is it possible to love Scoble but hate Microsoft? Hell yea it is. Just like it's possible to love _____ and hate _____ (you fill in the blank for me, I bet you know exactly what I'd put in those two blanks lol).
Find the zen - for yahoo, for Tommy boy, for life. That's my motto. ;-) (Thanks for explaining your "aside".)

I know you'll miss her tremendously but leaving in the way she did was pretty much all we can ask for.

I do love the Indigo Girls. For their music and their activism. Both.
As for me & for C, who wrote the original post, I think we're both pretty settled on not liking Ferrick's music; I think we're also both pretty much on the same page about how annoying it is that people automatically assume that we'll be into things 'cause they're Gay Things.
Personally, I'm really annoyed by the fact that now that I'm dating a man people automatically assume that I'm Straight now, and that I can't possibly understand anyone who's queer. It's lame.
Assumptions = stupid.
