David Chiu will be the third.

Re: How the LPGA Bungled on English

An update. Both of them relied on two white boys who trailblazed and cached oxygen earlier on. Isn't Tenzing Norgay as famous as Hillary these days? In Norgay's home territory, he's more famous, right?

The whole point of sending a journalist like Krakauer to Everest was to be guided. He could make it on his own, weather permitting, but what would be the point in that. An Asian female froze to death on that trip due to her guides' incompetence, intra-Sherpa conflict and her relatively small body mass when she and others huddled outside at a relatively low altitude.

Is Bear Grylls on the record as opposing female mountain climbing or something?

Those women were all guided by a team of male sherpa. The expedition was designed to promote Tibetan tourism.

Aside from that...

Re: The Everest Women of Nepal

Fair enough.

Bear is quite the self-promoter. His show is quite hokey, of course. He actually did climb Everest at a relatively young age.

Point taken...

Re: TROUBLE ON OILY WATERS - MV COSCO BUSAN vs THE BRIDGE ON SAN FRANCISCO BAY | gCaptain.com

Thanks for the post.

An ALJ was skedded to hear the acusation in Oakland on April 28, but this got pushed back to at least Sept 2., per the SF area BPC six weeks ago.

(Also, the Administrative Law Judge who will hear the case, Melissa Crowell, is a full-timer.
http://members.calbar.ca.gov/search/member_deta... )

http://www.pilotcommission.org/notices/aPOST2.pdf

1. At a further prehearing conference held February 21, 2008, the Administrative Law Judge
granted a continuance requested by Captain Cota due to ongoing difficulties with
obtaining admissible evidence, to permit other matters to be resolved, and to ensure a fair
hearing. Captain Cota, through his counsel, agreed that his state pilot license will remain
suspended pending the completion of these proceedings.
2. The tentative hearing date of April 28, 2008 was vacated. The ALJ ordered a new
hearing date of September 2, 2008. Current estimates for the length of the hearing is 15
days. The hearing will be held for four days each week until completed as follows:
September 2 - 5, 8 - 11, 15 - 18, and 22 - 25. The hearing will commence each day at
9:00 a.m. and will be held in an Office of Administrative Hearings' courtroom in the
Elihu Harris State Building, 1515 Clay Street, Oakland, California.
3. The hearing is open to the public. This notice of the hearing will be updated once the
courtroom number is known. The length of the hearing is subject to change.

Re: Criminals and Good People who Do Nothing

What you need are some turtle lights, like these
http://jeromes-bikes.blogspot.com/2007/01/produ...
The SFBC gave them out for free a couple months back.

Or a nice headlight like this and a small blinky in the rear.
