An excellent explanation. I was suspicious when their test site had only text on it. Pretty much any web host should be able to take hits on a static page without even any large images, right?

For a serious gamer, Windows is the only option. If you don't play games, there is no reason to use Windows.

Many people wanted to try IE7 when it was released but were unable to do so because of WGA. This measure is rather late because people have already forgotten IE7.

No one is going to use the service until cell phone service providers grow a brain and realise that charging Rs. 3 per message will ensure that very few people use it. You can probably get GPRS access for cheaper (Rs. 20 per day, Airtel) than using the service 7 times a day.

I tried it just today and found it excellent.

They have done a great job redesigning the Gmail interface for phones. Very usable and it even emulates the conversation view well.

The line at the bottom you mentioned doesn't really count as an ad. Many mobile blogging and email applications insert such self-advertising text in posts and email respectively. It isn't as bad as Yahoo mail putting random ads INSIDE the email.

Too bad GPRS is so expensive.

It's a decent idea but surfing websites on anything less than a high end phone is simply painful. It's like going back to IE without tabs!

Smaller websites have been waiting for a page rank update for months now. Google should either update all page ranks or remove the feature completely.

The problem is that the internet is too big to manually rank sites so they have to come up with generalised algorithms that look at links and such.

I don't think much of Google Gtalk messenger program. It's downright primitive. Using Pidgin works for me, except I can't use voice chat on any of the networks.

If they're going to make Gtalk better, they should make it a full fledged messenger with every feature they can think of.

Siyab has a point but I think the Alt Tab feature is that only in name and won't have the same shortcut. It'll probably be Ctrl Tab for usage.

Putting a collection of small games on a live distro is not going to impress anyone. I think Cedega is an emulator that is a commerical fork of Wine.

I just posted about games on Linux on my blog. I said:

"The idea of a free and open OS is nice and fine, but game developers donâ€™t release games for it and Linux supporters claim itâ€™s because of people like me who continue to play Windows games and not ask developers to release Linux versions. The only way game developers would make games Linux compatible is if thousands of people asked them to. And that will happens only if millions of people start using Linux. This means that Linux must be able to run all games to attract gamers to move. Itâ€™s a vicious cycle. Gamers are not going to switch to Linux, ever. So stop blaming us poor gamers. The only way to break this cycle is if so many people start using Linux that game developers are forced to release Linux compatible games simply because of the large marketshare."

Claiming that they have no idea why Firefox uses that much memory does not inspire much confidence in Mozilla. Atleast they should allow users to set a maximum memory limit for Firefox, if such a thing is possible.

Autopatcher was awesome. A huge list of tweaks and patches for the system. I used to download it religiously every two months.

Glad to know it's back. But downloading updates from the Windows server circumventing the anti piracy protection is not exactly legal.

Google seem to develop some specific products at their own pace. The Gtalk client has been ignored for much too long and so never achieved the popularity of the Yahoo client. They should take some tips from Pidgin and make it connect to all the major networks and add integration with all the other Google services. Then and only then will I consider using it.

I'm not going to tolerate Yahoo ads of any kind! The fools put ads INSIDE the email. That is just so wrong. First I thought they would insert ads between PDF paragraphs. Thank goodness it is not so. Yet millions continue to use their services. Speaks volumes about the average IQ on the internet.

The drag and drop feature is much needed. I hated creating a new label each time and then putting the feed and the comments feed under them.
